Title: Parking for U2?
Post by: Bags on June 14, 2017, 02:25:20 pm
I get excited when ticket sales start, get tickets, and now I have to deal with getting to FedEx field for a mid-week U2 concert.  Advice?  Recommendations?  Should I just not bother??

Option 1: Skip concert (recommended)
Option 2: Private appointment on Outlook calendar starting at 1pm, drive to parking lot, drink many miller lites, go to concert and stay for the first 6 songs to not encounter the same problems you would've had if you didn't take a half day of work off.

Def sucks out there for traffic.  And parking.  $50.  $58 in advance (TM fees).

to note: For GnR last year, the print-at-homes were not scanned.

It was worth it to us to fly to a different city, make a weekend out of it, and not have to deal with week day traffic.

More than I've ever paid for an actual concert ticket, ever.

I think i paid $50 for an MMJ MPP pavilion ticket a few years ago, but got it at the box office so only $1 in fees. Other than that, never. Not even close to that for a sporting event either. There's too much good cheap entertainment to be bothered with ridiculous prices.

I've paid half that for a bottle of beer though.

What do you mean the print-at-homes were not scanned?
The barcode on the printout, via Ticketmaster purchase, wasn't scanned at the parking lot.   Thus any printout of parking pass woulda gotten in (so....multiple copies of one person's parking pass....)      Obv this coulda been an isolated occurrence so can't necessarily depend on this.  But worth mentioning.    Ethics can be called into play but hey, it's not a ticket and the promoter is not getting screwed.  It would be AWFUL to deprive Dan Snyder of some parking revenue, I know, but these are rough times...

How is the metro these days to FedEx, I hear there is a bus in case you don't want to walk the mile+?  Afterwards will be a ClusterF of course so you'd have to leave during the encore..

Fed ex field site says concert should end around 11.15pm.

Last metro leaves at 11.27 and it's a mile from the stadium. You'd need to give yourself probably 40 minutes to get out of the stadium and walk down to the station to comfortably make the train.

I'm not missing that much of the concert so it looks like ridesharing to get back to DC. I'm in SW so anyone in my neighborhood or on the Hill, if you want to somehow carpool/ridesharepool back let me know.

I wonder how long of a walk this would be.  I'd rather give this company my money then give Snyder $50:

0.8 walking the road or straight through a house.

Tough crowd on this board.

Click on Reserve and it gives you the address. Then you google map the walk from there to fedex. It's actually 1.1 miles.

It looks like you could park for free at Magic Johnson Cinemas and walk from there.

The guy with the tour is telling me that U2 goes on at 8:40 and that there is an 11:00 curfew.  I'm going with the metro.

Nice.  I was going to post one of Leahy from the show (behind me). I didn't get Bono face time though.  I was going to post it, but I haven't figured out how to post pictures yet.
