Going to be in College Park on Saturday. Looking for anything fun to do on the campus before the football game. Art museum looks cool but appears closed on Saturday.
Also appreciate any dining recommendations near the stadium (parking very close by). Going with someone with subpar mobility so a mile+ walk is not preferable. Thanks,

what kind of ham-planet are you hanging out with that can't walk a mile?

Thanks for these replies. I always thought UMD started the whole couch burning trend, but a little research shows they didn't start until 2001. MSU did it in 1999 and apparently, WVU started doing it in the '60s.

Kapnos Taverna just opened. Haven't been, but you can pretty much be assured of yumminess.

Old Maryland Grill also just opened. Also haven't been. Brought to you by the Frankin's team.

If you're going to a game, you'll want to go to the original Ledo's in its newish location. You should resist this urge, as everyone else will be there.
All three have on-site parking that is free or cheap.

The kind of ham-planet that weighs ~110 pounds and has had 15 surgeries on her spinal column.

Hey, thanks. Was not going to attempt to go to Ledo's but those other two recommendations look nice.

So, hot enough?

Can confirm that kapnos is worthy of the YSOA.

Franklin's in Hyattsville. Down Rt 1 - you'd have to drive there.

Well, there's food and there's "food".

Just crash a Michigan tailgate. There will probably be more Michigan fans there than Terps fans. And bundle up.

If you park by the stadium, everything is more than a mile away (except the student union and a dorm diner). Park closer to downtown and take a shuttle to the stadium.
I will be arriving mid-game, to use the campus gym (I time it so that the game traffic is gone by the time I leave).

Uh, we are hosting a Michigan tailgate. . .

my hood is just around the corner from CP and if you are willing to brave the wilds of Beltsville which is north on Route One.. We enjoy Da Rae Won which is a Korean noodles place. The thumping noise from the kitchen is them making fresh noodles on site. Be prepared for a possible wait as its popular at night especially with Asians. Be sure to go to the restaurant in the back part as there are Two Korean joints there.

Hosting a tailgate but going out to lunch before hand... Something isn't adding up Julian.

Who said anything about lunch? It's a 3:30 kick so it'll be over like 7. We'd like to have dinner while all the traffic clears out instead of sitting in the car going 2 mph like a rube.

It may take you an hour yo get from the stadium to tje nearest dinner spot.

Will you be celebrating yet another non 1st or 2nd place finish in the Big 14 East?

We won in the classroom.

Would you call that a non-confirmation?

Yep, tailgating around noon. Lots stay open until midnight. As we are in the area Friday night and will hit college park early morning, we wanted to do campus-y stuff Saturday before the game.
The restaurant suggestions request come in a completely different paragraph of my initial post. Paragraph breaks are generally used to indicated a change in thought or topic.

I can confirm that we will not be using the gym but I am unable to confirm that I would use the term "non-confirmation".

What? I don’t merit the Space Freely treatment with a rolling compendium of all the times I’ve commented on this?

You're the only person we know who repeatedly name drops what state university he went to.

I know! It should be super easy for him to cull together a list of mentions. It’s his thing.

It’s just a very uncharacteristic lack of effort from GGW.

So that's a "yes"?

I don’t know. Why don’t you do a search and see what comes up. . .

The true College Park experience is incompete without a visit to Town Hall.

I honestly thought he was mocking you for mentioning it yet again. That would be totally his style. But it seems this wasn't the case. I'm a little saddened by this. First that shit down in Texas, now this. What a week.

While part of my persona is being ripe for mockery, I don’t really feel *I* am the one who mentioned it this time.

A quick search yields no explicit confirmation.

Marathon Deli is the best place to go and is right next to campus. Incredible gyros - get the combo with a birch beer, all for about $10. For drinks, I would say Town Hall - it's a local dive that got taken over by new ownership, so they made a bunch of nice upgrades but thankfully still have a bunch of pinball machines. It's definitely the best place for cheap craft beer and probably won't be too crowded. There's also the brand new Milkboy Arthouse which is supposed to be great - haven't been yet. Looney's is also adjacent to campus but I imagine that place will be a shitshow and the layout is not conducive for large crowds.
If you want to be real lazy there's the food court in the student union that has a Chik-Fil-A and some other spots. Also be sure to get the full fat ice cream at The Dairy.

Ah, I must've missed that fact in your original post.
-
I'll confirm that Milkboy is pretty good. Looney's will be a shitshow. Avoid on game days.
For cheap beers it's Town Hall or the golf course (bar should be open on gameday).
This will be the first game I miss all year. Too bad.
-
I like Milkboy, but their food menu is extremely limited, and quality has declined since the opening.

Great, now people are going to start discussing how no one has ever seen StoneTheCrow and Julian in the same place at the same time. This is how urban legends start.

I cannot even wait for the report back from Julian's dinner.

28-0 in 2nd quarter.....I'd say he is having a good time

Hopefully you were not one of many many people peeing on cars. Was working the command center on Saturday.
