Has anyone else been troubled over the past year or so that Phillie seems to be eclipsing DC for shows?  it's kinda buggin' me -- is it just about being only half as far from NYC?

I totally agree.  Philly gets every single show, big or small.  D.C. gets a good chunk of shows but still gets bypassed too much for my liking for Philly and Richmond.

Are there specific shows you're referring to? Also, Philly has a lot of venues of various sizes. When you think about DC, without including Baltimore, it doesn't compare...and it shouldn't since Philly is a larger city. When bands look at DC, it's usually the 9:30, Black Cat, Velvet Lounge or Iota if it's not a big arena show. While Philly has the Khyber, Electric Factory, World Cafe Live, North Star Bar and many others.

jesus. i don't know what you're talking about.  i live in richmond and NOTHING i want to see ever comes here.  i've been to 4 or 5 local shows total (one of them a comedy show and 2 of them had 20-30 people show up).
maybe dc gets passed up, but richmond gets passed up way more considering there are places to play in chapel hill, norfolk and dc.  why stop in richmond?  especially after places like the flood zone closed.

For instance, Philly's getting multiple U2 dates during both legs -- DC only gets two dates during the Fall leg.  Interpol -- they played Philly last fall as well, but may be passing DC.  There have been others of note -- can't think of them off the top of my head, but I know I've thought again and again, "why Philly and no DC?"

Richmond is another matter -- Philly and DC are very similarly sized, major east coast cities.  I don't think Richmond is quite the same.

Maybe it's the venue issue.  Odd, still.

Richmond used to do ok....I lived there in late 80's early 90's.  Flood Zone, Rockets/Metro, Jade Elephant, Twisters....but seems like now It's just Alley Katz.  I've never been to that place, but have not heard good things about it.  Christ, even Twisters closed, and it was starting to seem to me like that place would never go out of business.

Oh well, at least you can still go drown you sorrows in a pitcher over at the Village!

I don't get it. Interpol was one of my least fave shows in 2004. I'd say don't sweat it. But that's me.
