Larry Coryell

I'd never heard this before but the article I saw refers to him as "the Godfather of Fusion"....I'm not seeing that..but I guess it does not matter anymore as he is dead.

Junie Morrison - Funk Mastermind

wow...never knew that tale.

great quote at the end

?Musicians, if they choose to, can drive a tonal wedge through the noisome pestilence; the stench that often accompanies our contemporary societal lifestyles,? he said. ?I wanted to conceptualize an escape from the tensions and atmospheric pollution, even if it?s only a temporary psycho-acoustical one.?

Larry Coryell

"Mr. Coryell never stopped looking to expand his musical horizons. In recent years, Mr. Lappen said, he had completed two operas based on works by Tolstoy, and had been working on another, inspired by James Joyce?s ?Ulysses,? at his death."

Whoah,  a lofty pursuit.

Had the pleasure of seeing his band The Eleventh House in the late 70's.  Powerful!!!
