Brain Surgery for Keef

Keith Richards undergoes surgery, Stones postpone tour

Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards (music) underwent surgery Monday (5/8) morning in New Zealand to relieve pressure that had built up in his head after a recent fall.
"Last week Keith was under observation in Auckland following a fall in Fiji and was feeling well after being examined by doctors last week," reads a statement the band issued on Monday, "however after complaining of headaches yesterday doctors thought it prudent to move ahead with a small operation to remove the pressure."

The group's statement said that Richards' operation was a "complete success," and that he was "already up and talking with his family today," but that he will need "a few weeks recuperation."

As a result, The Rolling Stones (music) have postponed the European leg of their "A Bigger Bang" tour, which was originally due to kick off at the end of this month. The run will now start sometime in June, and full details of the rescheduling will be announced "shortly."

One week ago, The Stones' camp issued a statement that said Richards had suffered "a mild concussion" while vacationing in Fiji, but didn't specify how he was injured. Various outlets have reported that the concussion was the result of a fall from a palm tree, a fall from a personal watercraft, or both.

With all of his money and that face, he really should think about paying a nice visit to his wife's plastic surgeon. (Is that her in the background? If so, she looks great! Especially considering her age.)

Stones Cancel Tour

Keith Richards Recovering from Brain Surgery

Keith Richards is recovering from surgery to relieve swelling in his brain, but The Rolling Stones will cancel its upcoming tour to let him recover.

Richards underwent a ??small procedure? to relieve pressure on his skull at Ascot Hospital in Auckland, New Zealand, but was reported to be on the mend shortly after. Despite the cheery prognosis, the Stones will bail on their upcoming European tour in order to give the guitarist the weeks necessary to recover.

"Last week Keith was under observation in Auckland following a fall in Fiji and was feeling well after being examined by doctors last week," a statement by the band??s spokesman said. "However after complaining of headaches yesterday, doctors thought it prudent to move ahead with a small operation to remove the pressure."

The Rolling Stones have yet to make plans to make up the scrubbed tour, though project make-up dates to begin in June.
