The technical term, I believe, is an earworm. It can also be used as a verb. "That song's been earworming me for the past week!"
 
 The only legitimate case of that I've experienced was "Frere Jacques" when I was a kid. I literally could not stop hearing that song in my head.

Every time I see that stupid Burger King commercial with the "Big Bucking Chicken" song it gets stuck in my head for a long time... supremely annoying!  Not sure why it is just that commercial but I swear one day I am going to shoot my TV because of it!

me too!  i have had to stop listening to Tegan and Sara, simply because i cannot get through anything of theirs without walking away with at least three different songs stuck in my head.  and theirs, sadly, are the most annoying to be humming all day...

I catch myself singing, "What's the story in Balamory, wouldn't you like to know" throughout the day......not only that, whenever I hear Oasis singing "What's the story" I HAVE to put "in Balamory" at the end of that line.

i will randomly get the song "Jack The Ripper" from morrissey stuck in my head. probably because the lyrics lately have held true. well the first line.
