The brand of beer you prefer says as much about who you are as the car you drive or the music you enjoy.

 What be your brand?

You can't start a thread like this and not include your own beer.

Yes - these are pretty nice alternatives

The creator of Celis White was involved with developing Hoegaarden:

 http://www.vansteenberge.com/newmodel/htm/2en/21500en.htm

[Where does the Celis White come from? Today it comes from Austin, Texas (USA), but originally of old it came from the picturesque Flemish-Brabant village of Hoegaarden, close to Tienen. For years, Pierre Celis devoted all his care and energy to brewing the Witte van Hoegaarden. Still, that wasn't enough to prevent the old conditioning tanks from becoming damaged and serious investments were needed to save Hoegaarden. Celis installed a new modern brewery with stainless steel kegs, but he kept the centuries-old recipe. ]

I used to drink it when in Austin TX (brewed there) & then they closed up. It's just being re-introdcued. It is EXCELLENT.

I had some Allagash white and I thought it was pretty close to Hoegaarden. Mostly I have moved on to the super hoppy beers.

But I have developed a soft spot for Victory Golden Monkey.

Hooray! Our taste in beer is as pretentious as our taste in music!

I'll ususally drink whatever's cheapest.  If I'm in a particularly saucy mood, I'll go for a high alcohol content import, but if I'm going to distance, I'll take the lightest I can find.
