"Maybe I'm an elitist, but I don't think I am.&qu
« on: December 10, 2007, 11:07:00 am »
My God!  Kim Deal is so worthless.  She's one of those people who shouldn't be heard or seen (her twin, Kelly, is much better looking and MUCH less chatty.)

  web page

Pixies bassist Kim Deal has explained why there would be no new album from the reformed band.

As previously reported Deal was reluctant to make a new album, saying: "Hell no, because I don't want to."

Explaining her comments, Deal has now added that she does not think it's a good a idea for classic bands to try and make new music.

She told Rolling Stone: "I heard the last Rolling Stones record was good. The thing is I don't even care if it's the best thing they've ever done, I just wouldn't listen to it. And it's not anything that they're doing wrong. As a listener, I don't want to hear about it.

"I like The Stones at this period of time that I like them, and that's why I like them. Maybe I'm an elitist, but I don't feel like I am."

 ....

Kim Deal's other band The Breeders are set to release their fourth album 'Mountain Battles' on April 7.

So with her reasoning why are The Breeders making a new album?  There's no way it will be better than "Last Splash?"

Actually, does anyone think that this is the only worthwhile minute-and-a-half The Breeders ever produced?

Weird.  I saw this article and actually thought that you of all people would appreciate it.  Seems to me to be right up your alley.

Have to say that I'm glad the Pixies aren't going to record any more.  "Bam Thwock" was pretty blah.

P.S. Brain, "Shocker in Gloomtown" was a Guided By Voices cover, in case you didn't know.

Yeah.  I know.  Mr. Pollard, et al are the ones looking through the windows in that video.

No.  That's one of the most close-minded things I've ever heard someone say about music.  It's like holding your fingers in your ears and going "I can't hear you!  I only want to hear the Rollings Stones music they made between 1968 and 1973!  Blah, blah, blah!  I can't hear anything else!"  That's the definition of nostalgia to me.  Pure evil.

Hey, it's good that Bruce Springsteen is trying to make "new" music.  At least he's not just playing songs from his "Born" albums.  I just wish it wasn't so cliched, trite, boring and passionless.

I'm ALWAYS in favor of new, fresh music.

Because they're FUN.  Be honest, what song would you rather hear right now?  "Radio Nowhere" or "This Ain't A Scene?"

The first Breeders album was amazing...perfect pairing with Steve Albini and in my opinion by far his greatest moment PERIOD.

I think it's as good as any Pixies album as well...however all following material from them (breeders) sounded pretty average.

I don't have any interest in a new record from either of these bands.  I'm good with what I've got.

I'll bet Kim Deal would think you're worthless too. So you're even.

while we're talking about the stones, how is it that their early albums are so criminally overlooked?

people heap praise on 63-67 beatles records like "please please me", "hard day's night", "help!", "rubber soul", etc., but you never hear people talking about the stones' two s/t albums, "out of our heads", "aftermath", or "between the buttons" ... sure, you hear the singles, but never album cuts or talk about how fantastic these early stones albums are as a whole ... it's not like the stones suddenly realized how to make albums with "beggars banquet" or "let it bleed"

maybe it's just because i grew up in a beatles household (explains why i'm into jens lekman instead of queens of the stone age)
(o|o)

Please don't mention Queens of the Stone Age in the same paragraph as the Rolling Stones. Thanks.

Why?  Because the Queens are cooler and rock harder?

If this pasty, flabby armed dork is the picture of cool, sign me up as uncool.

And "rocking harder" is a negative in my book.

Yes, Josh from QOTSA is fucking cool. Don't worry Rhett. You're a fucking tool. Same thing as Brian Wallace. Almost the same thing as being fucking cool, just one letter off, so don't feel bad.
