this article is a year old, but it's a good reminder why not to buy BMC-owned brands:

Oops, They Did It Again: AB Fined for Pay-to-Play

"The settlement between the ABC and AB included one of the largest fines ever levied by the ABC of $400,000...
(...)
... the fine is only 1.5% of the parent company’s daily  profit."

I, have not done one of these, in a while.  went to the beach, and it was nice to visit a beer store which was other, than the one I normally use.  found some bottles of these

clown, shoes    the train I ride  tipa

brewery terreux   sour in the, rye

ecliptic   carina, peach sour

new belgium   2106 le terroir

wicked weed   sandiaca / persistence / incandescent

also . . . found these weird wines in a can, from eg wine company.  1 can, equals half a bottle.  lady said, it is new rage.  doesn't taste like the can either.  we will see.  got a bubbly and rose.

al,so . . . went to pen druid before beach and found these in bottles

penelope  13 month barrel aged dark sour
sun people  american wild sour
spontaneous   with wild blackberries

We had the Drie Fontenein, the Cantillon, the Casey, and a Crooked Stave on draft. All awesome. Combine that with the food, and glad we put it on my wife's credit card and i didn't see the bill.

so far, space.

pd  penelope  worth the trip to the brewery.  and while you are in sperryville.  the other brewery, hopkins ordinary, is the shit!

clown shoes  the train i ride.  am i dumb to think that tipas are supposed to be some over the top, i got raped with hops experience, that i wonder if i really liked it, with a confused look on my face like something just was not right.  this beer, was instead calm and smoother but nice taste.  i like it, but again, i like most good beers that are called ipas.

We went to Hopkins Ordinary the last time in Sperryville, after hiking WhiteOak Canyon. The beer was decent, if a bit ordinary. Not as good as Pen Druid. The garden space was very nice. On the same trip we also went to a place called Powers Farm Brewery, because we liked the name. My wife remarked that their beer was about as good as my homebrew, though i think that was being generous.

I can't think of a TiPA that i've enjoyed outside of Aslin's Triple Orange Starfish. I think about 8% abv is my sweet spot for(D)IPA's.

Sweetcell is probably the man to answer this but I'll take a stab.

The last time I was in Seattle was summer 2015. There wasn't much to speak of downtown...Elysian is decent but I think they are AB-Inbev owned. It looks like a place called Cloudbursting has opened downtown, getting good ratings on Beer Advocate.

I think the one must-hit brewery for beer quality is Holy Mountain. Fremont Brewing is great for atmosphere, and for beer if you hit one of their special brews (e.g Bourbon Abominable, Dark Star, etc). Rueben's is pretty decent too.

I took the bus from downtown to Holy Mountain to Fremont back to downtown. My wife and daughter took the bus from downtown to Reubens to Fremont (maybe they walked between those two? I think they were up that way for other reasons as well...the jumping salmon and Archie McPhee's to name a couple of things), back to downtown. And we all lived to tell about it.

Sweetcell?

I was just there last week and found the beer scene just ok...

Cloudburst for Haze
Holy Mountain for super acidic sours
Fremont for average all around beers unless they have something special on tap (DC seems to get better Fremont beer than the actually brewery)
Urban Family Brewing is also good.

Highly recommend The Masonry for an awesome tap list and great pizza (you'll be walking distance to the one location).

No Anchor is great as well with a killer dungeoness crab roll  and adispensary a block away.

oh yeah there's that too...how could I forget

thanks for the tips so far
I'll be just a few blocks from Cloudburst Brewing and No Anchor

location changed to a condo in Pikes Place Market...please tell me this is not the same thing as the San Francisco Wharf

Also came across this cool bike rental place that will bring a quality road bike to you and cheaper than most rental outfits http://pedalanywhere.com/
so I hope to do at least 100 miles during my stay

I guess I should add...good breweries that are bikable from downtown too

I stand by my original list of four breweries no matter your mode of transportation.

Pike Place is indeed a tourist trap.
