I missed Alcest but APTBS have improved greatly as a live unit. Only played a few older songs. Most of their material was off the last LP and EP; both of which I am not as familiar. They still do the noise jam in the middle of "I've Waited My Life..." which is still pretty cool.
And Wild Flag were in incredible form. Best DC show to date. Television and Margin Walker covers, four new songs and the whole album.

Yeah - Wild Flag were great. Nice to hear Carrie channel her inner Guy. But they still make me pine for S-K.

Ill throw in a "did anyone make it" as well... Swervedriver?

I was going to go, but then found out they played at 9:00, and it was already 8:30, so I stayed home.  I should have checked earlier, I just assumed they wouldnt play until 11 or so, since it was a Friday night.

Real Estate was fucking awesome last night.  So tight sounding.  New stuff sounds really good.

Guitarist said "Baltimore is always a better crowd than DC for some reason"

i dont know what it is about a band walking on stage to a Grateful Dead song that makes me respect them a bit more.  especially when they dont sound like GD.

"Baltimore is always a better crowd than DC for some reason"

Ain't that the truth.

Great show.  I thought Twerps were really good, too, tho I hate the band's name.  Nice sized crowd.  Had to be close to a sell out, tho they had tix at the door.

if baltimore is such a great crowd . . . why can't a single band sell out a single show at a single venue?

What does that have to do with the "quality" of the crowd?

quality = quantity

a show where five people come  = shitty crowd

a sold out show where five thousand people come = good crowd

a show where five people show and are awesome as five people = still, a shitty crowd

Quantity doesnt equal quality.  A sold out dc show with a crowd that wont shut up at a show like Real Estate would be 100 times worse than a half full non talking (at least during sets) baltimore crowd.  Crowd quality depends most on WHO is there, not how many people.  Though dc can have good crowds, just depends on show/venue, same as Baltimore.  DC crowds can either be people truly into music who want to support bands and listen to great music, OR (big ass or) people who just wanted to have a place to go so they can talk about their lives in public.  Baltimore ones seem to me to be way more about the music. Baltimore shows are usually IMHO better than DC ones and 99 percent of the time, if I can choose between the cities to see a band, Baltimore wins. Good thing I live between the two, so i can make that choice.  Walk, have you ever/do you ever, go to Baltimore shows?

DC crowds suck... everyone knows it: the crowd and the bands.

Doesn't mean you don't get the very occasional good DC crowd.
