As long as they stick to the middle ground they've claimed and keep nominating minority candidates, the Democrats will never lose another presidential election.

tendency to look at one election and draw big conclusions but US politics are like a pendulum... it will come back to the Republicans.... although I'm hopeful Hillary runs in 2016 and defeats Christie.. ... democrats could have the White House until 2024...but two and a half years is an eternity.. I remember in early 2006 talking with some friends about the 2008 election and everyone was betting McCain vs Clinton with McCain winning easily....we know how that turned out..

GOP sure needs to figure something out.  Their plan of getting all the white guys to vote for them...the math just doesn't work anymore.

"The problem is not with our platform, but with the electorate."

Translation

"There's too many non whites here now."

It will only get harder for them as time goes by.  No wonder they want to close the borders.

i love that the solution that some are proposing is "we need to become more conservative".  i hope they run with that.

Now that the election is over it's amazing to see how delusional they are.  They really believe they had it IN THE BAG.  Soundly defeated in almost every battleground state.

eh, i wouldn't go that far.  there were a few 50% to 49% victories that could have gone the GOP's way had a few things been different.  the wrong candidate for the Dems and/or the right candidate for the GOP could swing things 1% or 2% which is all that is needed.

Colorado 4%, Iowa 6%, Nevada 6%, NH 6%, Wisconsin 7%...these are not close.

No. Even if the president had lost Ohio, Virginia and Florida he won the other battlegrounds by far more than 1-2% (I'm talking bout Nevada, Colorado, Iowa, and New Hampshire) and those would have been enough to get him the win.

This was a rout. One needs to think of it as having been an election ran entirely in the battleground states. That is where they campaigned, ran the ads, tailored the message to them in the debates, etc..the president won all of them but one (NC). The states Romney claimed to be making inroads (MI, WI, PA) weren't even close.

But of course the Republicans continue to be delusional.. nothing new... they really need to cease to exist or something.

if ohio & virginia & florida went to romney (i.e. the 3 very close results) = obama has 272 vs romney 266.    you can't get much closer than that.  so i was wrong in saying a small swing is all that is needed - they need the small swing, plus one more state.  that's not too comfy a margin.

however that margin is only going to get comfier as the population continues on its current trends... GOP: evolve, or die.  oh, wait, a lot of its members don't believe in evolution ;D

The way to think about is that the president was reelected by winning the battleground states 9-1.

Had he not essentially given up on North Carolina he'd have won that one too.

This was a rout according to the rules of the game which include an electoral college with winner take all states (expect for Maine and Nebraska).

Casino appear to be where bands stop between State Fair gigs.

I'm guessing this will have a bit more of a Grown N Sexy vibe.

Well OK then.

With regard to the election, Ratbastard has been mighty quiet lately.
