This David Bowie news, just steamrolled me this morning, feel like I just lost a childhood friend.
Bowie has been with me for decades, always inspiring and challenging me to think outside the box and embracing change and creativity. He would bring me up when I was down or make it ok to embrace the fear and sadness. When I was feeling good, he'd join right in with his exuberance. Like no other artist, he could change with the times and always had the pulse of things. A man unafraid to shake taboos that seem just trivial now. I know he's just a rock-n-roller, but he always meant a lot more to me. No easy way to say it, but Davey Jones, you will be missed, but thanks to all you have given me. He was the nazz.

It's comforting to know that I am not alone in feeling like I lost a family member today.

This is one of those losses that resonates. And I bet every single one of us has a different Bowie record that is our favorite. That's what is so cool about Bowie.

So, in a High Fidelity moment, here are my top 5 songs by Bowie. I'm cheating because I'm trying to pick only one from some of my favorite LPs, but they change depending on what day you'd ask me.

1) Be My Wife / Sound and Vision
2) Right
3) Queen Bitch / Life on Mars?
4) Stay
5) Five Years

I'm in total disbelief. I listen to Bowie all the time. His lyrics take on a whole new meaning now that he's gone. It's.... heavy.

Did Dick Dale die or are you referring to Earnhart?
