This is a terrible year for film all around and that film is idiotic. Room should win althought Spotlight was really good.

Body passing? Shit, I thought it said body piercing. I'm cool with body passing, whatever that is.

As a strictly Netflix guy, I'm always six months behind the curve on films, so have seen very few of the Oscar nominated films.

That said, from reading critics lists, it seems like may Carol was snubbed?

It's basically crowd surfing someone (usually females) up the seats in an arena.

It's quite unsafe, actually. Used to be very popular at UofM football games (with a bowl stadium design you could go from bottom to true top) and a similar ban was placed in effect in late 70s.

Wow, it really got nominated for Best Picture? Sure, the film was non-stop fun and looks great, but best picture of the year? Really? I'd love if it won. Only to piss everyone off, but I guess I didn't realize so many people/publications/sites picked it as their top of the year.

Sicario was absolutely fantastic.

This is the price you pay for expanding the category from 5 nominations to 10.

But think about this - they only nominated 8 this year - they couldn't even find two more that were worthy after including Mad Max.

To be fair that's because of how they've changed the rules. It went from 5 to 10 but then a few years ago it went to "up to 10." Films have to get a certain % of first-place votes to be a nominee. Oscar insiders say 8 films is going to start being the most common nominee amount just because of the voting system mathematically.

The whole Oscar voting protocols for Best Picture are bizarre and if more people knew how they decided on a winner, they'd think its nuts.
