Zero 7

Will there be an opening band for Zero 7? I am teaching that night in Baltimore and need to know how early I should let out the students. (Imagine that-- a college professor dismissing the class early so that she can go see Zero 7!)

I saw Gotan Project, Zero 7 and Jose Gonzalez last weekend at the Hollywood Bowl.  It was a great show.  Gotan Project closed, but Zero 7 stole the show.  This was my fist time to the Bowl and what an amazing venue it is.

Thanks for responding. It sounds like I will be safe if I don't get there until 10pm or so.

Is the new Zero 7 album even good??
My friend thought it's sh*t (in a bad way).
 Any thoughts?

It took me a while to get into The Garden, but I really like the album.  Not as good as their last two, but it's right up there.  Can't wait for the show!

I wondering if it will be possible to catch Band of Horses at the Black Cat after Zero 7. I stupidly bought a ticket to Zero 7 before realizing it was the same night as Band of Horses....

I purposely bought tickets for both. I saw BoH earlier this year and it was great, I hear they've only gotten better. And they covered Hall & Oates when I saw them  :)

This show kicked ass! If I were to miss Band of Horses due a conflict, I'm glad it was for an excellent show like this. I really enjoyed Jose Gonzalez's solo acoustic set as well.

I have to admit I really didn't care for Zero 7 very much. It might have been my own fault...I only know about 4 or 5 songs and they're from Simple Things, and I know that the Garden is a far cry from their first LP. And the live footage of them from the Coachella movie was more what I was expecting...I know I wasn't the only one that was underwhelmed. Jose Gonzalez was cool, maybe a bit one-dimensional. All in all, I wanted to like the show more and it just didn't happen.

I left after 4 songs.  They were v. boring.

Jose Gonzales was amazing though.  His cover of "Teardrop" was brilliant.

i liked zero 7's instrumental pieces the most - wall-of-sound dub, cool synths lines.  loved gonzales' pieces with the band (didn't catch his solo set - my big bad).

the female singer - sia, right? - was plain annoying.  her personality belongs in a punk band, not zero 7.  on the band website she states that she's needed therapy (because her popularity weened for a while) and i believe it.  lots of sound problems and mixing issues made the show less than ideal.  i think her vocal style and stage antics did a lot to create feedback.  i thought her voice was too far forward in the mix, and i was standing right by the mixing board.
