I've got tickets for the show tonight.  Has anyone been to a performance at the French Embassy before?  Any idea what to expect (parking, venue size, seating vs standing room, security, etc.)?

The Submarines are opening, and their album isn't too bad.  Harmless male/female indie pop.

you can park on the street after parking restrictions lift at 6.30. the D6 also goes right by there.

they have a huge room with a stage and lights that probably holds 600+ and then an adjoining room that probably holds another 600. i suspect the performance will be in the glass-sided room.

the staff there are pretty nice. they have tons of events there so they are used to crowds.

The Submarines were OK, but somewhat bland.

Nouvelle Vague was fantastic.  They covered Human Fly and had the audience screaming out Too Drunk To Fuck.  They turned Just Can't Get Enough into sleazy cabaret.

 Excellent band.  Very entertaining.

Some of their musical cousins are playing around the area in the next few days.

Pink Martini at Lisner tonight, Mosquitos at Iota tomorrow night, and Cibelle at Millenium Stage Sunday.

I'm glad you enjoyed it.  I ended up having to eat my ticket because I was stuck on the hill all night.  Now I remember why I left DC...
