sweetcell - The Roots show is sold out and the earlier show of Lady Sovereign isnt sold out.

i already have my tix for the roots :)  Lady Sov is the early show, but the rumor is that she'll stick around and participate in the late-night Jam as well.  if someone is really really interested, they release a few tix on the night of each show so if you get there early and are willing to wait in line, you can get it.  emphasis on getting there early (like before ten) and the waiting.

i might be hitting this show up again in the coming weeks, it's a ton of fun and easily the best $10 of live music i've come across.

I noticed that Imperial China show yesterday.
Still yet to see them, too.

Wonder if Sharon Jones->that->Lady Sovereign would be doable.

This week is going to be epic for me.

Today - Dark Was the Night Concert @ Radio City Music Hall
Monday - The Kills @ Music Hall of W'Burg
Tuesday - Junior Boys / Max Tundra @ Black Cat
Wednesday - Junior Boys / Max Tundra @ First Unitarian Church
Thursday - Junior Boys / Max Tundra @ Webster Hall
Friday - Celebration / Psychic Ills @ Le Poisson Rouge
Saturday - Nine Inch Nails / Jane's Addiction @ Ford Amphitheater in Tampa, FL

good god!   that's awesome, when do you work?

I love how this question pops up every couple weeks or so.

I'm not surprised. Every time i see ixkpd-bk's schedule i am amazed by
A) his love for music
B) his endless bank account
C) his flexible work schedule
D) his energy
and E) his apparent lack of a life -- at least one that doesn't involve music

It's not like this epic week is really all that different from a normal one of seeing shows all week in DC, NYC and Philly. I know there is some sort of flexible job option, and two homes, and that apparent million dollars in the bank, but i have come to avoid this thread simply to not be shocked/made jealous/annoyed every week, in that order. Nothing personal meant by this ixpd-bk, it just, i dunno, bugs me for some reason. In the same way all those rich kids on Gossp Girl do...

It's cool! None taken, really.

And I do understand most of your amazement, apart from E.

I surround myself with amazing people, I managed to get a degree at a decent school, and I'm making things work in my life where I can do something I love (that I choose not to disclose on a public forum) and be happy doing it. :)

Also: The reason this week is so epic for me is because I'm seeing a band that means a lot to me with people that mean a lot to me. Not to mention, Kelley Polar, a guy who's album was my favorite last year, who played all of ONCE in the US in 2008, is opening for their NYC show. Sounds like a winner!
Woof.

Fischerspooner is most likely not happening for me.
Depends on when The Magik Markers go on, honestly.

And Nobody asked you anyway.

A few years back I saw them perform as part of an art parade in the Village. The costumes were really out there and it was completely over-the-top, and they sounded amazing. If their concerts are anything like that, id not miss it. Ill know on Friday how it is, not sure when they play DC.

ps - Sweetcell - did you get your tix yet in the mail for the show? I think you ordered them pre-sale too. For some reason they are not mailing my tix and arent sure what is happening with pre-sale tix.

tuesday: the roots @ highline ballroom, NYC - unconfirmed special guest, among others: lady sovereign (the roots have a weekly residency at the highline ballroom called "the jam", where they are the house band and various artists join them on stage to, well, jam.  went 2 weeks ago a Booker T sat in on the first half of the show!  HIGHLY recommended if you're in NYC during the week.  tix only $10, but buy in advance - shows always sell out).

show was great once again.  no lady sov.  special guest tonight: street sweeper's first-ever east coast show!  the boots riley/tom morello fronted band is now going by "street sweeper social club".  they were really good, and tom dispelled any rumors that he's a bad guitar player.  between his solos during their set, and the freeform improv session he did with the roots and a saxophonist, easily proved that the boy can play.  looking forward to hearing them again in a month, when they open for NIN/JA.
