Would we expect anything less?
« on: January 07, 2005, 12:24:00 pm »
Ticketbastard in Ireland have been criticized for continuing to charge service charges for tickets sold to fund raising events for the Tsunami fund. Even banks have waived fees on all donations given through credit cards, and Irish banks are known to be a bunch of crooks.

Ticketbastards response was, "actually we've lowered our service charges for fund raising events which has amounted to â?¬30,000, which is the equivilent of a donation in that amount really."

When I bought Beautiful South tickets I went to a ticketbastard window and was told it was sold out. I then went to the Cork Opera House box office on the off-chance and they had good seats left. When I asked why T-bastard had none left I was told, "Oh, there's some contract that says we have to give them some allocation  but they only get about 100 or so because they're just a bunch of feck'n thieves"

Not that it justifies anything... but it doesn't seem that tickets.com has lowered the service fee for the Thievery Corp. benefit show at the 9.30 club either.

so wait. which FEE are they lowering??? are they

  a) lowering the fee paid by the customer when they buy a ticket

  or

  b) lowering the fee they charge to the venue/promoter of said benefit

lowering the fee paid by each individual ticket buyer would NOT be donating anything at all to anyone?

lowering the fee to the venue/promoter would be a donation i suppose, but then ticket prices would remain the same and why would ticketmaster donate money without telling the general public they were doing so?

now, the real question is:  do you really care about the money going to disaster victims, or just the fact that some dollars bills are or are not being taken off your ticket(s) purchase for shows of bands that suck anyway?

don't you know that most of the money sent away for such purposes are probably being horded by some dictator of some country with ties to the U.S., who is paying g. bush not say anything about the nice tidy profits being made by everyone.

where's sally strothers when this production needs her?

No the real question is, since they're only doing a DJ Set and not performing live, wouldn't it be better to just give the $25 to the red cross or something while listening to their "DJ Kicks" or "Outernational Sound"?  Plus that way you know that all the money you give is going directly to a charity.
