Ever been bounced out of a show or a bar/club?
« on: March 19, 2007, 04:48:00 pm »
i have, twice.

first time i was 18, which made me of legal drinking age where i'm from.  had a few american friends in town and we hit the clubs, being able to show their real IDs and get in was a thrill for them.  ended the evening at a punk/industrial bar with a mosh pit.  everyone there was cool except for one really aggressive dude that kept targeting one of my friends.  eventually my friend yelled at him to back off, which was the invitation the prick was looking for - they rolled.  i jumped between them and separated them, got a fist to the temple in the process, and by the time security showed up my friend was out of the equation and it was just me and the trouble-maker.  unfortunately he was a regular and a friend of the bouncers, so i got kicked out.  needed a few stitches to close a small gash over my eye.  my friends thought it was the coolest night of their lives.

other time was less dramatic.  occured a few years ago at a certain club in DC that we all know and love, back in the days were we could still smoke inside - and my friend, on an all-day tear, decided that smoking something other than tobacco was a good idea.  security were real polite (but forceful) about it - "we saw you two smoking, you have to leave", and we didn't put up a fight... we were busted for pure stupidity.  we tried laughing it off, but in the end were just embarrassed by the whole episode - so teeenagerish.

 anyone else?

i was in chicago a few years ago with some friends and one of the friends and i got kicked out of fado's.  it was so stupid. . bought a beer, gave the bartender $20, bartender gave change for a $10 bill.  argued with bartender for rest of the change, gave us back the $20 and told staff to escort us outside.  however, the door guy directed us to another bar that was much better and ended up staying open till 4 or 5 am.

Once.  I was 20, and though underage I was that girl who not only always had a fake i.d., but usually had a few.  So I gave one each to two of my friends (one was a guy -- long story how I got a guy's I.D., but I got one!).  Anyhow, my friend Amy does not have much sense, so even though we had IDs, she didn't want to wait in line at the front door and decided to sneak in a side door.  All three of us were chased out -- the two of them were caught and had their (my) IDs confiscated.  I got away, and had hidden my ID in a palm tree outside the club.  I was able to drive back (45 minutes each way) to get it the next day.

I visited a friend in Ann Arbor.  We went to a bar with the cute little pitchers (really just big mugs), and were having a good time.  Well good until he decided that it was smart to throw a glass ash tray at a far wall.  Then we were asked to leave.

When I first turned 21 was in Fells and went to club 801 or something (the real goth-y place).  Well it was all you can drink, so we sit at this table.  Had a bunch of cups on it, and for some reason we decided that the only logical way to have a clean table was to wipe the cups to the floor.  we were shown the door.

Once, Buncing Souls show at Irving Plaza.  Was rather drunk and stepped out to smoke a cigarette.  A bouncer claimed I threw my cigarette at him and escorted me to the other side of the bike rack.  I called my friends, who were still in the show, and they laughed at me and didnt believe me.  I waited for them in the diner/bar next door til the show let out.

I was on a bachelor night out in DC and as usual we ended up in a strip club, Good Guys on Wisconsin Ave. Now, I really don't care for strip clubs, but it was a batchelor night and for some reason men seem to think it's something that must be done, even though we were having a great time in the bar before hand.....on 18th and Kst I think. Anyway, I went to the bathroom and while I was having a leak two idiots came in and started fighting. The bouncers came in and assumed I was involved so kicked all three of us out. I started to plead my innonence but realized this was my perfect excuse to get the hell out of there. One of the lads in our group saw me getting kicked out so they all came out and we went to back to the bar "Sign of the Whale!" that's it....and we went back to having a great night out.

So it was a happy ending.

fun thread   :)

sir HC just reminded me of another dishonorable ejection... in my last high school semester before college, i had a really sweet class schedule which allowed me to go on mid-week drinking sessions.  one particularly boozy evening, my friend and i were the only patrons in the bar around midnight or so.  it was the kind of night when staying on the bar stool was a challenge.  after finishing our Nth pitcher, we noticed that the barmaid was nowhere to be found.  we waited, we called, no one...  so i reached over the bar and started filling our pitcher from one of the taps.  we couldn't wait but i had every intension of paying for the pitcher, which i vehemently explained to the waitress when she returned no more than 15 seconds after i started filling - she must have heard our previous howls/requests for service.  she had none of it.  made us pay full price for half a pitcher (shut off the tap as soon as she returned), and told us to drink fast and leave "or she'd call the cops".  thinking back, she was working all alone that night and had no bouncer... we still high-tailed outta there after chugging a quarter-pitcher each.

I had a friend of a friend get kicked out of last year's DBT show at the 9:30 Club for being incredibly drunk.  Barely able to stand, he closed his tab and then returned less than five minutes later to close his tab again.  The bartender told him that he had already closed his tab.  He flipped out and accused the bartender of stealing his credit card.  She told him to check his wallet and that he would find his card there.  He refused and kept arguing. She finally called security on him.

ThatGuy told us we had two minutes to get him out of the club or that he was going to do it. We had no luck.  ThatGuy forcibly removed him. It was a pretty impressive sight...pure professionalism.  Full of embarrassment, I followed them out of the club and missed the last two songs of the encore.  I apologized to ThatGuy for the whole thing and thanked him for not going overboard.

Yep, I got caught taping Supersuckers at a small club in Ocean City by their tour manager. Managed to pull the ol switcharoo when he demanded the recording though. The show was almost over. I listened to the encores from the band entrance. Became aquainted with the opening band who were also out back. Eventually the tour mgr. came out, saw me and said, hope you enjoy the recording. All I could do was smile. Apparently he checked it and found out I had given him a blank. I felt so bad I purchased about 100 bucks worth of merch off of them as a saving grace. Great boot though, worth every penny. Still have the shot glasses and T shirts I bought for being a bad boy. I'm surprised he didn't check me out back for it, but it was already stashed away safe and sound.

Oh yeah, and the Residents Wormwood tour at 9:30.
Something about too many legs in a bathroom stall. They tried confiscating my prescription meds.Luckily, I believe it was That Guy recognized what they were and convinced them they should give them back, which was greatly appreciated.

I was asked to leave from Felix once because of the following incident:  a girl was going on at the bar about how she worked for Senator so-and-so's office.  After a few questions I was able to ascertain through the veneer of self-importance that she was an intern, and my friend and I started busting on her about being a Capitol Hill version of Monica Lewinsky.  I know, a cheap shot but these self-important Hill types are such a pain in the ass, even more so when (as usual) they are not important at all.  Anyway, this huge dude decided to defend her honor, and grabbed both my friend and my arm at the same time and started twisting.  At which point the bouncer asked us both (but not the arm twister) to leave.  Didn't really want to be there anyway.

Oh yeah, almost forgot, a dude I was with lit up a spliff at a Femi Kuti show at 930 a few years back, and he was removed within seconds after striking the match.  Dumb fuck... I had told him that the 930 was very strict before the show, and so I felt no loyalty qualms disowning him as he was led out and staying behind to enjoy the rest of the evening.

Showbox in Seattle.
It was The Cramps in (i think) 2000.
I was super drunk, and feeling like I was about to go under, so I went to the bathroom and made myself throw up.
A bouncer happened to be in the stall next to mine, and threw me out for being too drunk.
He did not even listen to my reasoning that I was making myself throw up so I would not be too drunk to enjoy the rest of the show.
 the end.

I would never think in my solitary life i'd be kicked out of a bar but if it did happen, I wouldn't think it would be at the Clarendon Grill. So I was a little tipsy trying to go from the dance floor to the bar. This girl coming from the right side trips over my leg and falls to the ground. Bouncer sees this happen, girl starts to complain that I pushed her down when I knew she was tipsy as well and was asked to leave. All I gotta to say to that girl was, dumb bitch.

I once got drunk and fell into the Christmas tree at a bar in San Juan Capistrano, in the OC.  I came to later in the desert.

Also I got fucked up and spilled my beer twice at the Purple Moose in OC.  They showed me the door.
