New Belgium Brewing explores sale

Noooooooooooooooooooooo! Enough already.

It's funny that every article you ever read about New Belgium automatically mentions the one shit beer they make, Fat Tire. Every other beer they make ranges from good to outstanding.

right, but Fat Tire is their biggest seller.  anyone who is going to pay $$$ for that company is way more interested in FT than their limited-release seasonal sours...

I am surprised that NB is going for the same as Ballast
NB seems to have much more presence all over the country

Ballast Point has been on a growth spurt that makes it worth more than an already bigger but slower growing brewery.  they grew 74 percent in 2014 (http://www.brewbound.com/news/breaking-down-the-brewers-associations-top-50-list).  they can't add capacity fast enough.  so investors are buying in to what the brewery will be, not only what it currently it.

This is being discussed on Beer Advocate forums, someone from Sixpoint Brewing pointed out:

If you were about to open up a $100,000,000+ brewing facility that has over 500,000 barrels of capacity, and your sales were down this year, I'm sure you'd consider selling ;-)

I highly recommend the new Five Points IPL at Denizens. Also, they're having a growler sale starting tomorrow through January 3. Might pick one or two before my buddy's bottle share/NYE party in Connecticut. I'd pick up some growlers at Ocelot too but that place is such a schlep, though I honestly think they're the best brewery in the DMV right now.

any company, that makes and sells . . . a vanilla porter, deserves to be owned by budweiser.

I had their 25th anniversary rum barrel vanilla porter at a tasting recently - it was not very good
