Ah, my second favorite IPA,  after Heady.

Make sure you try the equally amazing imperial porter from Ballast Point, Victory at Sea.

Just found out that Ballast Point is now available in Maryland.  Too me, that could only mean one thing.......  SCULPIN!

but Heady's a double.......

I've yet to find it for under $16.99 a six pack in MD. It's good, but not that good IMO.

If you go to Max's get there EARLY.  I used to go to their Belgian festival before it got way too crowded to attempt.

Consider yourself lucky. For some reason, a dollar or two more than that in VA. Yet, $15.99 in NYC, DC, and Chicago.

That's still cheaper than OTWOA, and Sculpin is better than OTWOA, IMO.

What's the big deal?  A dollar more for a six pack is nothing.

Will this be as crowed as the Belgian Festival?  I would think that would be a much bigger draw.  Of course every time I go to Max's most of the people are drinking cheap domestics.

I read on a beer advocate forum that typically it's not as crowded as the Belgian Fest, but still crowded.

You are right about most people there drinking the cheap domestics. What a shame. I guess if it helps keep them in business and they keep the good stuff going as well, then bravo.

just how many beers can one person try at these things?  thats why i question big beer selections at any one place in time.  i want to try too many of them, and then i get all drunk in the city and the beers dont taste the same as just enjoying one or two at your sitting and then i forget how many blocks it is back to the hotel, loving the architecture of dc as i continue.

Yeah that is what I was thinking.  I am going to stop by Union Craft Brewing to do a tasting of their beers.  I could go down to Max's afterwards but how many beer would I drink?  A couple?  And it is crowded it will be a pain.  And if I like a beer odds are I won't be able to drink it again.  The cask thing is cool but as I will be hitting union they probably have casks to try there I would think.

tommy fresh... make us proud with your two bachelor degrees and go to max's.

you can do tasters.  there's a couple belgian beers.  there's a couple german beers.  i guarantee you'll masturbate in the bathroom after tasting a few of them.

Says who? Heady is 8.0 ABV. Might as well call it an IPA.

I've been to Union Craft. You get some decent free beer and you can buy the cool glass. You can do it any Saturday. That beer list at Max's, that doesn't come along just any Saturday. (Neither does my daughter's birthday, so I'll be drinking a Heady Topper at my daughter's birthday party.)

I have been to Max's a million times. It is fun if you are single but my wife frowns upon it when I talk to other girls. I would rather go to Union Craft.
