Dear . . . God

http://www.msn.com/en-us/money/companies/keurig-budweiser-team-up-for-in-home-booze-machine/ar-BBxYN19?li=AA4Zjn&ocid=spartandhp

absolutely awful.  there is no way you can concentrate & dry beer, then reconstitute it; or worse yet engineer it chemically from scratch, and have it taste good.  then again they're targeting AB InBev beer drinkers who are used to drinking tasteless beer, so who knows maybe this will work...

Well that sucks. One of my favorites.

https://www.facebook.com/firestone.walker/

From their Facebook page:

Sucaba is taking a "Sucabbatical" this year (see what we did there?!) so we will not be releasing a 2017 vintage. Gasp! But fear not, all FW locations currently have the 2016 vintage available so come by & stock up on this English barleywine while it lasts.

PS New vintage beer coming Feb. 4th! More details coming soon... maybe.

Duveled

SWEET.  enjoy.

it's one of my all-time favs.  for about 8 months i flew to dallas every week for work.  always stayed in the same marriott.  for beer they had crap, crap light, crap ultra... and duvel.  drank the hell outta that golden belgian elixir, and brought home every bottle in my luggage - they are made of thick glass so perfect for bottling highly carbonated homebrew.  i still have 80-100 of those bottles.  the end.

Duveled

I don't have 100 empty Duvel bottles but I'm going to guess this was some sort of comment on Duvel owning Firestone Walker???

the veil was named in "Class of 2016: 34 of the Best New Breweries in the US"
https://www.beeradvocate.com/mag/14961/class-of-2016-34-of-the-best-new-breweries-in-the-us/ (scroll to "southeast" section).

didn't know they did spontaneous fermentation.

I think that's in the works with nothing released yet. I could be wrong.

in addition to working at the Alchemist and Hill Farmstead, the brewer also interned at Cantillon.

Rumors of Toppling Goliath hitting town next weekend, but I'll be out of town (grabbing NYC beer).

two things

1.  http://www.msn.com/en-us/money/companies/sierra-nevada-brewery-issues-36-state-recall-of-select-beers/ar-AAm7GDR?li=BBmkt5R&ocid=spartandhp

2.  I broke down and had some beer this weekend.  filled a growler for a poker game to share with my friends and I had a glass or two.  it was tasty incredible but expensive.  Cascade  The Vine.  I still don't really miss it but it was nice that I picked a winner for my re shot back at it.

I tried Midnight Marauder from Union Craft. Pretty good dark sour. Fans of the Clutch beer should take note.

We went to NYC this past weekend. In addition to seeing some cool museums and some old friends, we learned that NYC makes some pretty good beer.
