But hasn’t even remotely moved the needle on the base of the people who represent them
Would think the likelihood of a gop voter who lost a friend or relative has got to be way higher than if you were a democrat

that's the level of self-deception some folks are at: a loved that one died of the disease is fake news.  everyone must be lying to them.  they know the truth, everyone else is wrong.

I suspect we'll soon see the return of enforced social distancing and restaurants going take-out/delivery only. Many shows will be cancelled through at least March.

I was already delaying an overdue haircut until 2 weeks after getting my booster (scheduled for 12/27). Reminds me of when this started: I was due for a cut in mid March 2020, then everything started shutting down.

Saw Route 1 traffic partially blocked by cars in line for an evening COVID testing site in College Park.

Can someone explain why UMD is canceling commencement? Can’t you enforce mask wearing and (possibly) require vaccination status? If not, couldn’t you move it outside?

I’m pretty conservative when it comes to COVID but this seems over the top, right?

I mean, we're at the beginning of the next wave. The current spike in cases is an echo from Thanksgiving holiday travel. Omicron breaks through vaccines and boosters. Maryland is already seeing a spike in hospital admissions. High schools are shutting down, and sports are being canceled. Why should we pack 10,000 people into an enclosed space for something that we can do online?

I understand that - I guess I’m more surprised that it couldn’t even be relocated to an outdoor venue given we know outdoor transmission, especially with masks, is relatively low.

So is the emerging consensus this new variant spreads easier - even with full vaccine- but is not that bad ?

That's what my experts have told me.
