the first LP.. when Columbia rolled out the Long Play format the first two releases where a 10" "pop" LP of a 1946 Sinatra "album" - some say the first "album" as opposed to mere collection of singles- which had been issued on a 4 disc 78 RPM album.. this is why albums are called albums.. they used to have multiple 78s in them and looked/ opened like a photo album.. anyways Columbia in June 1948 announced the LP with two "albums". this Sinatra 10" and a classical music 12"

10" LPs in my experience are usually beat to shit and don't sound all that great.. I've sort of stopped buying them but I couldn't resist this historical artifact for 50 cents...it looks to be in great condition but as has been my experience it has some pops/noise even if it looks clean...I'm a big Sinatra fan- huge- but his Columbia stuff leaves me cold.. it usually sounds like he's singing all stuffed up or something and the arrangements by Axel Stordah who I know Frank loved just don't do it for me.. .. I'm guessing microphone and recording technology was the problem.. in contrast his 1950s Capitol stuff sounds wonderful and I can't get enough of it...its rather amusing how his 1940s Columbia stuff sounds "old" and his 1950s Capitol stuff sounds "new". (Nelson Riddle/Billy May arrangements are the best.. Gordon Jenkins doesn't do all that much for me)..

well just finished playing it.. the second side sounds really good.. the first side has more noise/pops even though it looks clean.. overall a nice find for my collection...

What?

Most RuPaul music is clubby and dancey.  Since at least 1994...
