Anyone planning on checking out the show? They've always been quite entertaining in the past. I just posted an interview with frontman Nic Offer plus the guy that did all the artwork for the new album on BYT:

ill be there
-
probably not...but I saw them in the VIP section at tonight's LCD Soundsystem show. :)
-
wait, were they in the VIP section (just below the upper bar) or on the side-stage balcony?!? i thought you told me you saw them above the stage...
anyhoo, i'll be there and can't wait. i fully expect this to be a kick-ass show. they were a hell of a lot of fun at the amoeba in-store (http://www.930.com/cgi-bin/ubb-cgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=015398), and shook the tent at coachella. they may well be my new favorite act to see live.
for all you stragglers: show isn't sold out. get on it.
-
They were fun at the black cat last year. Better than LCD was tonight, actually. I'll be there tomorrow too.
-
I got your Live! Live! Live! mp3's. I can put them up tomorrow. ;)

Yes, yes you did!
-
Yeah, I just posted this in the LCD forum as well, I was bummed seeing Tyler Pope, LCD's regular bassist and one of my favorite musicians standing up there while his replacement didn't quite fill his shoes.

That was some pretty sexy American Apparel silver spandex up there :)
Yes, yes you did!
the BYT website hurts my eyes.

Too busy?
Any specific constructive criticism would be appreciated.

a few quick thoughts: fun show, more than decent, but not amazing. you should be kicking yourself for missing LCD, but !!! was only good. direct relationship between the two shows: while DC once again proved that it can dance, i'm sure tonight's show would have been better had it not been the night after LCD's. only so much dance-punk energy to go around in DC. club was about 60% full, decently packed floor but barely enough to cover the rails upstairs. set was 1:15 long, no encore (or if there was, i left before it).
at the end of the show nic started pulling people up on stage, both the lady and i counted about 60 punters up there (foreshadowing the polyphonic spree show?!?). got stupid at the end - the dancers were knocking over mics and crowding out the musicians. stage was over-crowded and they kept trying to get more people on there.
all in all it was fun, but i enjoyed them at coachella and the amoeba in-store more - better crowds. oh yeah, tonight's crowd was very young.
-
From a musical standpoint, I prefered tonight over last night. But yes, I agree that the crowd was somewhat young and also lame. The black cat crowd when they played there last year had way more energy.
-
If anyone snapped some good pics let me know, thanx.
-
I'm pretty sure they never really play encores. At their first Black Cat show, Nic mentioned that everyone had to dance if they wanted to hear one last song. Man, that was a great show.

Had a great time last night, plenty of room upstairs to get my dance on. !!! always looks like they are having such a blast. Defintely agree that the crowd was young. If someone could post a setlist that would be great, was unsure about a couple of songs. Had not heard Holy Fuck before, was impressed. Does anyone know how their CD compares to their live sound?
-
Nic sure does have sweet dance moves -- or ants in his pants.
But yeah, I enjoyed. There were definitely a lot of crazies getting their own personal dance on all over the Club last night.
I was actually surprised that it wasn't more crowded. I feel like every show I've been to lately is sold out or close to.
-
Anyone know what those last two songs they played were? I didn't recognize either of them.

my GF, having never seen !!!, was slightly taken aback by nic's, uh, "style". now, if i want to freak her out i just have to do my nic-on-stage imitation (which, i dare say, is pretty spot on). personally i think he's a riot, albeit a slightly effeminate one. i predicted that nic would climb up a speaker stack and jump on to the balcony rail, i called it!

there was a professional photog there last night (i could tell she was pro by her lens :) ), dunno who she worked for or where they'll be published. nic even asked her at one point "so, you wanna take some pictures?" and proceded to cop a bunch of poses - most of them highlighting his ass.

The last one was "Intensify" off the self-titled album. Not sure what the 2nd to last one was but it was awesome.

Setlist (may be slightly out of order):
Myth Takes
All My Heroes are Weirdos
Pardon My Freedom
Must Be the Moon
Dear Can
Me and Giuliani Down By the Schoolyard
A New Name
Yadnus
Heart of Hearts
unknown song (mostly electronics, no guitars)
Intensify
If someone could please help me figure out what the second-to-last song was, it would be much appreciated. It was especially awesome.

That's one of my absolutely favorite songs to hear live.
