The effort to extend life vs the quality of life is big and something most Americans are not comfortable with

If you're not from DC, and you're not from one of the 17 states that are still allowed non-quarantined entry entry into New York State, you're going to have to quarantine for 14 days upon entry into DC. VA and MD are excepted, but if they weren't, they'd have to quarantine.

completely agreed - but i want it to be a choice.  in this case, a panel is choosing for you whether or not granddad gets an ICU bed and treatment.

For sure, but the cost to the hospital/insurance co/government pales in comparison to keeping someone in the hospitable for a few hours

You're ok if you're coming from one of the exempted states (VA, MD, and about 17 or so others)", otherwise you need to quarantine for 14 days. This applies if you're a resident of one of the 35 states, or if you're a DC resident who has visited one of them.

*35 is a rough estimate.

The crazy thing is you could hit the bars in VA Beach for a week and be exempt from this, but hit a remote cabin in NC for a week (or a day) and it would apply.
