McCarren Park - Advice?

I've never been to the pool park and figured I'd get some advice from someone that has.  SY tickets say doors are at 6PM, but the site lists the time 7:30 without any indication whether it's show or door time.  Any input?  And if they say the show is at 7:30, does that mean the band will be playing right at 7:30?

doh! for some reason i thought this was a free-show, so ill scratch my post.
 
 ive only seen shows at summerstage this year, that were outside (free and some not free). summerstage had people in line way earlier than 5pm door times for Decemberists. That is when doors were. Actual show began at 6:30. I arrived a little before 6pm and it was insanely crowded already.
 
 id guess its prob somewhat similar at mccarren. i have friends that went to the free shows there, but i dont know if that will help you at all.

6 is gate time, 7:30 Slits, SY 8:45 I'll be over at Randall's Island trying to stay dry, hope your show goes off without a hitch, curfew is around 10:30 I believe so you should get a quality greatest hits set after DDN.
