I'm sooooooo there
-
Me too--and Philly too. Too bad I can't do the entire east coast and some of the midwest like I used to do with the Pumpkins...Ahhh, those were the days. Such a stalker I am.
-
Hopefully these tickets aren't as hard to get as the Arising tickets... Man I was 3rd in line at Tower in Rockville and it sold out before I got to the front... Luckily, I ended up winning tickets from Johnny Riggs a couple of hours before the show on HFS that day... Ahh memories. They played Soma that night and I was in another world.
-
When are these tickets going on sale?
-
yawn

The mailing list says presale on Wednesday, regular on sale this weekend. I'd assume thursday, though, since that's when most tickets go on sale for 930 club.

I doubt they'll sell as quickly as the Arising! tour since it's not SP. That was an amazing show though. The third encore of Geek USA was fantastic.
-
Where will I be able to get these tickets? The date isn't posted on the 930 Club page and Ticketmaster doesn't have a registered show for the 24th in DC. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot!
-
you guys think he'll break out some pumpkins songs?

Agreed...brings back memories. Billy as the bald shaman. Jimmy C back on drums.
I loved seeing a band that was used to playing arenas packed into a small club. They opened with I Am One here in Pittsburgh and then moved right into Zero.
It was one of those rare times when the cliche - "blow the roof off" was applicable.

930 = tickets.com, not ticketmaster.

regardless, I can't find anything anywhere about his show at the 930 Club besides what's on his myspace page, which just says he's doing a show at 930 club

it hasn't gone on sale yet. stuff isn't posted on the 930 website until it's confirmed. you could either watch tickets.com or sign up for the 930 club email newsletter which will let you know of show announcements. might still be good to watch tickets.com regardless, since frequently (at least these days) shows will be up on tickets.com prior to the 930 club newsletters (which come out every wednesday).
-
Thanks a whole lot. Much appreciation

They did that every show of the tour. First 4 were I Am One, Zero, Pug, La Dolly Vita (a true holy crap moment in Detroit).

i love that i got totally shut out on tickets for that '99 tour.
i spent the morning calling protix from work on my cellphone trying to get 9:30 tickets because i couldn't go up there (and protix didn't do online back then did they? i forget). or was 930 ticketmaster by then? i can't remember, regardless i couldn't get them online and i couldn't go up there. i tried for pittsburgh too, but had no luck.

Really? I totally lucked out and got tickets to Detroit, Pittsburgh and DC, and was able to find cheap scalped tickets to Cinci.
-
Anybody know he's got opening? Here's some new Billy: http://www.myspace.com/billycorgan (http://www.myspace.com/billycorgan)
-
Got my tickets but need more--guess I'll have to wait for the general sale. This two ticket limit doesn't really screw the scalpers much. They're so sure of themselves that they already had tickets listed on ebay early yesterday--before the presale even launched. 2 down, 2 to go.
-
Just got my ticket =) This is my first time to 9:30.....any tips on anything from parking to when to get there to anything u think would be beneficial would be appreciated. Thanks!
-
notice how no one has asked for the password for this show?
-
tbone, there is a lot of street parking around 930 and the U st area, which its at the end of.
I've always felt safe in the area.
I try to get there on the early side to get a good parking spot and some food before walking to the 9:30 club.
See you there!
-
I Appreciate the advice. I will see you there. Finally get to see Billy again!
-

This system of presale emails worked very well. I am impressed.
-
Are they already sold out for the presale? I wanted to get 2 tickets but it said they didn't have any more. If the presale is sold out, is the regular sale sold out as well?
-
Originally posted by JoeyJoeJo:

NO. A small portion of tickets is set aside for any presale, and the majority of tickets goes on sale for the general sale. And since the 9:30 club is a general admission theater, just get online when the gen sale starts and you should be fine.
-
Sweet, thats good to hear. Does anyone know when the regular sale starts?
-
how much were the tickets? My presale link doesn't display ticket price since it's now sold out -- that'll teach me to go to a morning meeting without checking my email first!!! tickets.com isn't listing it yet and in order to get some people on board it would help if I knew the price...
thanks :)

$35 + service fees

Public on sale is Saturday, May 21 @ 10am
-
that's insane. $35. i think the SP show i saw on the last tour was only $35.
-
thanks! that's certainly gonna make it a tough sell...
-
actually. i looked. i never paid over $30 (face) for SP tickets except for the NYC 98 show where all the money went to charity.
-
so i wanna buy when they go public sale, but is this a billy c. "i wish i still had the sale-ability of s.p.," or billy c. "i wish i could actually write poetry," or billy c. "zwan, part two" show . . . or billy exactly what?
-
I'm not sure how I got so lucky, but it seems there are still some pre-sale tickets available using the billycorgan.com pre-sale password and link. Possibly some credit cards were declined or something? Anyway, I just got my ticket! Woo hoo! The Pumpkins are one of my top 3 or 4 favorite bands of all time, but I never had the opportunity to see them live while they were together. Saw Zwan a couple years ago and now I'll see Billy solo. That'll have to do for me.
-
I remember the Pumpkins show back in 99...Queens of the Stone Age opened. Hearing them open with "I Am One" was truly amazing.

I think it's funny the Pumpkins online community absolutely HATED qotsa then. No good reviews, and we had entire venues flipping them off, and then once qotsa "got big" everyone brags they saw them way back when. Funny what 3 years will do.
-
I must be one of the lucky ones too I just tried the billcorgan.com presale thing again and got some tickets it says they'll be sent to me does anyone know how long it will be before they get here?
-
I just noticed the 'pre-sale' has been extended. Is that because nobody is interested in seeing the bald headed twat?
Heard one of his songs on the radio recently and can understand why. Far removed from the Pumpkins isn't it.
-

Yeah, clearly. You can dislike him all you want, but you know full well he's going to probably sell out every show on his tour, so don't act like no one wants to see him.

I was asking not acting.

I ordered my tickets today. Should be a good show. Anyone know who is opening for him?
-

No word yet. His backup band has Matt Walker, Linda Strawberry, and some other guy from Filter's original lineup though.
It sold out in case anyone missed it.
-
I must say I'm underwhelmed by the new solo release.I was expecting much more from Billy

i'm disappointed.
-
the album wont be released till june 21, how can you be underwhelmed? the first single (walking shade) is pretty damn good, very new-age feel.

I've managed to hear a promo copy.If your a fan you won't be bummed or anything. I was hoping for more Jimmy C though,he"s the backbone when they're at their finest IMHO.He sold out though so i'm sure he'll bring his best game.

how can you be underwhelmed? how can you have any expectations for his crap after killing SP?

Hah! Yes, Billy Corgan killed his band. You are so
schooled on that subject, aren't you? List some facts before making prejudicial accusations. Otherwise, don't make foolish comments. Who died and made you the expert on the demise of the Smashing Pumpkins? Prove your credibility please.

When he shows his Master's Degree in Breaking Up Of The Smashing Pumpkins, boy, are you going to feel foolish.

So your bassist becomes obsessed with plastic surgery and cocaine and your second-hand guitar man is never really into the music, just money, models and silly fashion statements. What then praytell, do you have left? D'arcy flaked out--admit it. James just wants to be a part of something semi-famous that hands him a decent paycheck so he can still purchase his designer dungarees and schmooze with New York's finest ditsy cokeheads, (see: A Perfect Circle). Yep, you are right. That Master's Degree theory is seemingly plausible. Funny though...

Way to take a joke. ;)
-
Masters degree in killling the SP? If he were a bullfighter, he'd have been chased out of town. The death of the SP was a slow painful sloppy experience. They had such an aura of greatness from 91 to 93 the memory of which was badly tarnished by their later years.
Has anyone ever figured out how the guy who was so cool and mysterious and brilliant, in the gish era in particular, became such a raging twat? I mean, seriously? That said, I'm going to check out the show. Maybe some magic is back.

i'll take a shot in the dark:
money? fame?

If you like Gish-era Pumpkins, I'd maintain you may be pleasantly suprised by this tour/album since the tracks that've leaked sound very much like Adore (read: techno/synths) meets Gish (read: the new-wave sound of the 1989-1991 recordings).

I don't know what you've been smoking but the new one is a FAR cry from anything resembling Gish!

Not Gish itself, but if you're familiar with the new-wave sound alot of the 1989-1991 material had, there's alot of that on the new material.

The man had arguably one of the best drummers going and the new one sounds like a drum machine more often than not.Shame on Billy!

Oh, well now that I can agree with wholeheartedly, although I do think Chamberlin plays on a track or two (but none of the ones that've leaked yet).
