that is brilliant, much better than my method where I was taking a polaroid of my phone screen and sending the film out to the Fotomat for developing, getting the print, taking a picture of it with my wife's phone, emailing it to my phone, and uploading it to show all of you how brilliant I am.

once you complete the game, on the stats pop-up (click the histogram icon at the top if not visible), and click the "Share" button. that will put the image (actually characters) in memory. then paste wherever.

This is how this played out for me as well. Had the last 4 letters and 3 possibilities and two guesses left so had to play a word including two of the possible first letters to guarantee victory.

Is it better to get 100 out of 100 wordle's correct in 6 guesses or is it better to get 95 out of 100 but your average (correct) guess count be lower? And how does that reframing of the goal change the strategy? This is far more interesting to me than the game itself.

You don't have to make that choice. I've "won" all 20 games, 9x with 3 guesses, 8x with 4 guesses and 3 with 5. No wins with 1, 2 or 6.

learned another word via these games.. used crome a couple times thinking that doesn't seem to be the spelling of the word in my mind (chrome) but it kept getting accepted so... turns out crome is a valid word - a long stick with a hook at the end.. also already taken as a band name :)
i've also been tripped up a couple time for using melon when the word was lemon...
still working on a good starting word for the grown up wordles, seems words with less used consonants is good choice.. melon or joker have been tried.
and if only i remembered to scroll up on the grownup wordles i might get tripped up less :P

Even when I was a kid, I felt like Pabst was super popular in Detroit/Ohio/Pennsylvania and the southern parts of Ontario just north of them. Like I thought was a Canadian beer from how absolutely ubiquitous it was in Windsor as a child.

i spend all day in front of a desktop (actually a laptop with a second monitor). doing something on the phone requires a context switch, for me.
also, i'm on the pre-mobile side of the age divide. i spent too long with a full keyboard and a large screen. by the time smartphones were a thing, i was set in my ways. there is nothing i can't do faster on a desktop than on a mobile. my phone is essentially a reading-only device. it's an input device when i don't have the better alternative.

yeah today's wordle was similar to what hung me up early this week where there were far to many words with a shared letter sequence.
i'm still trying to figure out a good constant heavy word to use as a starter in the 8 and 16 word versions. Shirt followed by Clamp seems to work well

definitely a tough one today. i went negative after only solving 13 boards. while at zero i had to choose between "merit" and "remit"... and i choose unwisely. had i made that guess, pretty sure i would have solved it: the "m" unlocked a number of boards for me. oh well. once i went negative i abandoned ship. no point carrying on to an inevitable outcome.

crashed and burned because i didn't pay attention... i had 4 letters in place, just had to guess the first letter. guessed wrong twice before getting it, then noticed that i had the missing correct letter in yellow up above, all along... a gimme, and i blew it. i got several really tough words beforehand and then stumbled on some fluff. i bring shame upon my people.

I've haven't played Wordle in hard mode, but having settled months ago on Wil Shotz's opener of Arose, I can't recall the use of other knockout words so essentially playing in hard mode...
