Why Chevrolet?s Prince 'tribute' ad is awful in every way

I disagree on almost every level.

Had they put the Chevy logo on there, I would have been upset.  Had they used the new vette, I would have taken notice.

But they used the 1963 split window vette, easily the classiest.  I probably would have used the 1958 vette as tribute, but I thought it was done in fine taste.

I can hear the argument that it should have been social only and not in print, however, but I think this guy's way overboard.

Yes, countless Prince fans in agony over his death ran out and bought 1963 split window vettes, of which there might be 10,000 left on the road (and I think that's high) which sell for $75k-$125k, because of this ad....

for the record we both know that Chevy doesn't make a dime on used car sales (kinda like artists don't make money on used vinyl or cds)

so ...no that wasn't the point of this ad...it was to sell new red corvettes

Then it's a shitty ad because they should have included the Chevy logo and used the new vette.

$42,400 is about the right price, but is 85 the right range? I don't think that will work for me.  Even the 150 range extender is too small.

All that and I haven't even talked about the back seat.

I know, I saw that on the site when GSS posted it
85, man that is really just an around town car
although there are electrical hook ups all over the place, would require a lot of planning
and obviously charging it pretty much every night you park...so forget about street parking

Will roadside assistance come with the ability to give you a quick 5-10 mile charge if you get stuck

With the range extender version, you'll only need AAA to bring you 2 gallons of gas, because that's how much the tank holds.  That should be enough to get you to a charging station or another gas station to get 2 more gallons of gas for the next 40 miles or so, and so on.

Google's OnHub router just added IFTTT (if this, then that) Integration.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPH74ZHDuCI

I've already programmed it for "When Smackie walks in the door, play Social Distortion on all the Sonos speakers"

If that lasts more than once, I'll be shocked.

because the technology will fail, or because the missus 2.0 will ensure that it doesn't happen again?

Her response when I asked if she would prefer Social D or The Clash:

"Wow that is awesome!!! When I walk in the door on week four of the month I'd like it to play yoga music."

I'm pretty sure I can make that happen.
