Title: Malkmus rollcall
Post by: Loveless on March 27, 2008, 06:24:00 pm
I do love Malkmus, but I'm actually more excited to see John Vanderslice since I have never seen him perform and am a big fan.

I'll be there provided my ticket hook-up comes through   ;)

Psyched for the show.  Last show of mine in my 20's, and since his new album kicks, it's a good one to go out on!

Yep, me too.  I enjoyed his set at Pitchfork last summer and expect this to be nothing like that.

Looking forward to it, this new album has really been a grower.

Vanderslice was awesome!

I bailed after about 20 minutes of Malkmus' set because I'd already seen him twice and had to run. Sounded tight with Janet on drums though.

Yes it did.

Was that a shout-out to DC Space I heard right after Baby C'mon?

I thought it was ok.  I think his loose charm on record doesn't always translate that well live.  Granted, the set started off tight; that first run of 5 songs were great.  After that, though, it seemed a little too...meandering, I guess.  Still enjoyable though.

This was my first exposure to Vanderslice, and I've got to say, I found it pretty boring.

Vanderslice made me sleepy .. and pretty much made me keep yawning throughout the rest of show. Boo.

Vanderslice makes uninteresting music and Malkmus just bored me to death. New album sounds good, but somehow it did not work in a live setting. I should have stayed home and listened to King Crimson.

Definitely will be one of the worst shows this year for me.
