I had a Zombie Dust last night, and it was fine. Just think West Coast IPA, and you'll be ok.

Exactly what I remembered. Haven’t had an IPA since Sunday and am not planning to get any unless ZD pops up.

Heard good things about Vanish but haven’t had any.

Vanish is a great spot, I think their offerings are very good, not sure they get the YSOA tho
I love their merch too...with all the 80s punk rock/skater references
best to go when the weather is warm would be my only caveat

Was only their once and the amount of children there was beyond annoying (even bringing my own kids).

Beer was fine, but way too far from where I live to ever go back.

The amount of children at Pen Druid when I was there, made me buy bottles only, and get the hell out of there.  Maybe it is me, but when I see kids at a brewery / winery / bar . . . I want to call CPS.

Aren’t breweries one of the top destinations for kids’ birthday parties?  Parents knock back a few while the kids run themselves into a coma.

Never any kids on a Friday afternoon.  Heavenly today. Perfect weather.  I'm going to brag, I'm betting I could outhike any of you as I approach 54 potbelly and all, except maybe grateful.  That said, I bet any of you could outdrink me.

Walkie, what bottles did you get at Pen?

How does one out-hike another?

I am definitely up for a drinking hiking challenge. No puking. Nothing under 7%.

How does one out-hike another?

1. you get your asses over to my place
2. fill up a growler from the kegerator, put in backpack.
3. we ascend Mailbox Peak via the old ("primitive) trail.  we'll allow for going down the new trail.
4. try not to puke.

good luck.

this can be arranged, just give me at least a month's heads-up.

I am not sure  if I'm in for the Dino Jr. forum meetup, but i am so ready for a forum hiking drinkoff. Especially if it's within 250 miles of  sweetcell's house.

Heading out to hike Little Devils Stairs in VA today, with a stop at Pen Druid on the way home.

Then hiking Loudoun Heights Sunday, with beer stops TBD....Wheatland Spring, Vanish Farmwoods, and Dynasty are the possibilities (haven't been to any of them.)

I did Old Rag last week for the first time in about 20 years - it was great! I was surprised at how much ice was still on the trails in parts

Wheatland Spring is good. They have some blended bottled beers that I bet people would rank up with Hill Farmstead in a blind tasting.

Same with Pen Druids Cerise - world class

I did Old Rag back in February. Well, sort of. It was snow covered and took me twice as long, and i stopped at the first big view on the left. Others half my age seemed to be game to tackle the scrambling in the snow and ice, but i headed back down.

Today it was 7 degrees warmer and 7mph less windy in Culpeper as opposed to Harpers Ferry, so we opted to hike White Oak Canyon and hit a couple of farm breweries on the way home...Old Trade in Brandy Station and Barking Rose in Warrenton. Both decent beer with good views and nice outdoor space. Wheatland and Vanish will have to wait for another day.

18 different cans dropping from the Veil at Downtown Crown on Thursday.

Anybody else had any of the fruited sours from Drekker, Fourscore, or Cushwa? Really tasty stuff.
