the Whole Foods in Foggy Bottom has been, until recently, my main beer buying destination.  this past summer they lost their beer buyer (now working at P Street) and the selection of beer has suffered.  it's not horrible, but is no longer spectacular.  draft options just hasn't been as good.  my guy isn't there anymore to hold bottles for me, give me advance notice when the good stuff is coming in, etc.  while shopping there today i asked the shelf-stocker (new beer guy?) if they had received Sucaba, fully expecting him to tell me that it came and went in under an hour 2 weeks ago.  instead i walked outta there with their last bottle.  yeay me.

recently tried the sam adams nitro coffee stout in a can.  meh.  it's fine but just doesn't have much going on.  maybe it's because i'm used to stouts with coffee being imperial, this one clocks in at "only" 5.8%.

Other than their very inconsistent Jai Alai offering, I can't say I liked many more of their beverages. Won't be missed!

Are you saying Jai Alai is inconsistent in quality, or in availability? I can agree with the former. When it's super fresh and a good batch, it's world class. When it's not, it's not. The latter issue seems to have been remedied already.

Cigar City makes some damn good beer, but none of it (other than Jai Alai, when it's a good batch) makes it up here. Maybe this will allow us to see more of their good stuff, and maybe bring some consistency to Jai Alai.

When it's not, it's not. Even when drinking it in Florida.

Being half Irish and teleworking on St Patrick's Day means you're required to drink an 11% bourbon barrel stout in the afternoon, right?

You're only half-Irish so only drink 6 of the 12 ounces.

Good thinking. Perhaps the dog gets the other six ounces since he's underweight.

Have you computed your dog's BMI?
