Title: Chevelle
Post by: Laharper1977 on January 07, 2005, 12:37:00 pm
According to Chevelle's website they will be at the 930 club on 3/5.  When will the tickets be on sale?  How about Audioslave?  Have they ever been at the 930 club?  Does the audience get to interact with the band members at all?

The audience gets to stand in front of the stage while the band plays.  In between songs, the audience can "cheer" and the band may say "thank you".  pretty cool, eh?

Oh yeah, just knowing that makes me want to jump for joy. You didn't say anything about the ticket purchase.

I, personally, interact "Freebird" with every band member I see at 9:30 club.

I guess I worded that question wrong.  I meant, do they take requests (different songs).

they play different songs?

(no most bands dont take requests, even if they ask they are just waiting for someone to call out the name of the song they are already about to play!)

I was wondering the same thing...and I hope that "1977" isn't the year they were born. To be in one's 28th year of life and never been to a show...and on top of that inquiring about Chevelle*? That makes Baby Jesus weep.

 * I had to endure seeing Chevelle perform a couple years back because they opened for Queens of the Stone Age at a Xmas show in Pittsburgh.

Okay, I'm an idiot for inquiring about this.  This is my first time going to 9:30.  I have been to other concerts.  I just didn't know what this place is all about.  Sorry for asking.  Didn't mean for everyone to freak out.

Sorry to be mean.

Like hundreds of other venues around the world, the 9:30 Club is a mid-sized concert hall that holds a little over a thousand people.

Unlike the others, however, 9:30 forces its performers to have meet-and-greet sessions before, after, and during each show. One song is reserved in each set for a lucky audience member to sing backup and/or play rhythm guitar. No exceptions.

While everyone else seems to love this venue rule, I still say there should be exceptions. Like that one time that 14 year old kid got up there and played guitar with Keane - totally upstaged those surly Brits.

Attendees at the guided by voices show were treated to a special version of this known as 'let Tommy Keane sing all the songs you want to hear Robert Pollard sing, then both drop the microphone drunkenly'.  Hilarity ensued.

"Shark Infested Waters" should be a new thread to which all Chevelle questions and Linkin Park fan club members (Kirkland321: "so? everyone needs support. plus, what i meant was that i am just trying to get more people interested in their music. i'm sorry if thats a problem for you.") are instantly routed.

Man, you guys are in rare form this year.  Didn't you get anything nice - like new personalities - for Christmas?

I'm still feeling bad for what  you did to MissMia.  Why is it always open season on newbies?  Calling you sharks is not fair to sharks.

We need to put a warning on some of these threads:   "This forum is only for those music snots who like only the groups we like and who think exactly like we do. PS:  Encyclopedic knowledge of all inside/private jokes required."

OK, I'm ready for the intolerant and disrespectful responses - be sure to include a few nasty pictures.

yes...miss mia was definitely scalping muse tix on the 9:30 ticket xchange.  gotta wonder why suki is so defensive on the part of a "stranger" newbie like miss mia.  that was a couple of months ago anyway. maybe suki  is miss mia.  hmmm...

actually, chevelle will be also be playing in Baltimore at sonar on 3/8 as well.  seems to be something up and coming, to play baltimore and dc, seems to be happening more and more recently, either between 930 and sonar, or 930 and new ram's head. seems like sonar may be pulling the bigger name acts though...

Just curious.  Why do so many people have a problem with the band "Chevelle".  They have great songs out like Red and Send the Pain Below, but all I ever hear is how badly they suck, even though they reached platinum with their second album.  Give me your views.

I don't have a problem with them per se...just not my type of music. I'm now outside of their demographicâ??the "I hate the world, my bf/gf just dumped me and my parents suck!" folks. As I mentioned upthread, I saw them perform live a few years back and it just didn't do anything for me. Their sound is derivative of too many other bands without adding something to call their own to the songs.

Not just from you.  I get the impression that Chevelle isn't a well liked band at all, which was a little surprising to me.  I admit that some of their music is quite annoying, but three songs are awesome at the same time.  I think they'll be at the 930 club sometime in March or April.  Do you think a lot of people will show up to hear them play, or do you think it'll be a waste of time to even go?
