Title: Why isn't Label standard on id3 tags?
Post by: bellenseb on October 02, 2007, 01:11:00 am
At least, it's not even an option in the latest version of iTunes.

I'm finally giving myself over to bits, and missing the tactile pleasures of CDs, but this is silly. It was one of 4 pieces of information tagged on music videos, but in the mp3 age it's gone?

And there I am listening to a song from Rob Crow's Lactose Adept album come up on shuffle and wonder which label was crazy enough to issue it.

ever since radiohead announced their new album, labels don't matter any more.

Good music refuses to be labeled   :p

Anyway, you could always put labels in the "Comments" box.

I'm thinking that the reason why there's no label tag is because labels often change and it's often difficult to tell what the label is. You probably have lots of CDs that have a corporate label, division label, marketing label, vanity label and others all on the same disc.
