Title: Would you really?
Post by: bnyced0 on October 03, 2007, 12:53:00 pm
We banter about who amongst musicians, actors, athletes, and other famous people who we think are cute, hot, sexy, sponge worthy, etc.

But who out there would you really be interested in going out on a date with?

To keep this from getting unruly, let??s try to keep to people that are actually single, and take into account their (albeit likely manufactured) reputations, and drug issues, their potential homosexuality (if you??re from the opposite sex), etc.

In other words a somewhat serious look at someone you think you could actually hit it off with, rather than someone you??d just like to get off with.

I ask because I can??t really think of anyone, but we as a society seem so hung up on ??celebrity? especially adolescents who buy posters, and tickets, and merchandise, and scream and pass out at shows and in general act as though they really have a chance with whomever they??re lusting after, when if they stopped to think about it would probably be repulsed by not only the person but the lifestyle they??d have to endure to be with them.

Kind of a weird thought, huh?

I used to think Nicole Kidman would be an ideal date, red head, Australian, phenomenal talent, drop dead gorgeous, but between marrying that midget, having a ton of kids, and now being married to a country singer she??s kind of lost her glamour.

I also have a thing for Bjork and Mariah Carey, but I think if actually given the opportunity I??d probably decline both, though it would be a tough call with the Icelandic wonder.

 You?

Well, he said unmarried so my obvious Gwen Stefani choice was thwarted.

shit your right, forgot they were adopted, but she's still married to a country singer, and also forgot to add she's a smoker (huge deal breaker) so though a tough call, she's still off the list  <img src="http://gfx.download-by.net/screen/21/21174-nicole-kidman-sex-e-screensaver.jpg" alt=" - " />

Smoking was always a dealbreaker for me too. To properly do this exercise, I'd need a list of which celebs are smokers and which are nonsmokers.

Apparently Julian doesn't subscribe to the half your age plus seven corollary...or maybe he does and I've given him too much creidt for his actual age.

I did. I know of no drug habits or homosexuality that'd discredit any of those young ladies. Although, Hayden and Mischa might be "party girls" which I don't really go for, so those two might be gone. But I don't have more then a hunch to base that on. I really shouldn't judge someone I don't know.

80% of the population is nonsmoking. I think if I shunned a smoker, my chances of finding a nonsmoker would still be pretty good.

The last time I dated a smoker was 23 years ago while in high school. I had no trouble shunning non-celebs who smoked; I'd have no trouble with doing the same with a celeb.

Ok, you might have a point, if before going out on the first date I had no clue because I was awestruck or something, I probably wouldn't bolt the minute she lit up.

But I can say without question there wouldn't be any chance of a longterm thing if she was a smoker, we could do the night, but it would be all physical because I couldn't open my heart to a smoker, true story...

You'd be surprised by the amount of hate I have in me when it comes to smoking.  Every single one of the girls I mentioned would be gone if they had a smoking habit.  Every one.  I have never dated a smoker and I never will.

I also would toss all smokers. Like bnyced0 said, if I didn't know ahead of time, I wouldn't end the date rudely in the middle if she lit up, but there'd be no second date.

I'm not bad looking for 40, but I'm past my days of being a "looker".

No offense, but I don't I'd consider anybody from this board that I've met offline a "looker".

Not that there aren't a whole load of nice people on this board. I often feel bad for picking on someone on here after meeting them offline and finding out they're basically good folk.

And off the top of my head . . . I can't really think of one.  There's a bunch I've love alone time with, but I can't think of many I'd "date".  Then again, I'm not at a "dating" stage at this point in my life.  Free agency is being a little too good to me right now.

I think he meant "lookers," not lurkers, at least I'd be very afraid of Sweets, and Joe, not quite BULL930 afraid, but leery nevertheless.

Unless by "looker" you mean unattractive to all but a small population of undiscerning women with poor eyesight, then you have me and the others pegged appropriately.

My lady friend either has poor eyesight or I'm a charity case for her, either way I have no illusions about my desirability.  I just chalk it up to winning the lottery, so I'm all good...until Sara calls of course, then there might be trouble...

I guess my point was sometime during the date you would actually try to have a conversation with them, so these should be people whose personalities you find interesting, or you think you'd have something in common with, or at least connection of some sort outside the bedroom....though since this is fantasy perhaps those are rather high thresholds.

What would you talk about if you actually had to live with someone? Not that those are the ONLY potential topics of conversation, but they are biggies...

My ideal woman would have to know a good amount about music and (to a lesser extent) sports, or at least be good at faking it...which my wife is.

I dated a girl for a year that liked Something Corporate and figure skating and liked to watch American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance? I hate all that stuff, but I liked her personality so I went to figure skating and SoCo it wasn't terrible, and she came along to Bright Eyes and bought me tickets/went to Red Wings hockey. People can take an interest in whatever the other person likes without it being their own favorite thing. People shouldn't lie and pretend they like something they don't, but it wasn't really important -- we both went to the other person's stuff because we enjoyed the other one's company, and neither of us were ever bored stiff.

And of course there were some common interests or things we both liked doing, but the focus wasn't on "what we like to do" but "what we like in the other person." I just don't get people who are like "oh, I wouldn't date anyone who likes ________," or people who won't date a girl unless she likes football. That's so stupid. Football is not the be all and end all of the world.

And yeah, to some extent, I'd like to be the more masculine one and the girl the more feminine one, but I'm not going to throw someone to the curb because they know more about the left wing lock then I do.

I guess being a little older I see things slightly different, it's true I've dated a lot of women that share virtually none of my interests, but it was purely physical, they were normally "hot" so that was enough.  It never lasted very long, which was fine, because like the Director is feeling his oats today, I was also free agent and really didn't care.

But for me a relationship has to have some key things, "deal makers" we can call them that are necessary to just be able to deal with me. If you don't like sports, you can never understand why I'm so passionate about it and yell at the TV or spend stupid amounts of cash on tickets.

Likewise if you don't like music, well there's no reason to explain that one..., or able to talk about world events, politics, travel, etc.  those are the bare necesities to have any kind of conversation witih me.

Someone I'm dating doesn't have to march in lock step with me, but without some commonality it's really just a booty call and won't last more than a few weeks.

So I can understand your perspective, because I've been there, but in a few years I think you'll start seeing deal breakers for what they really are. Unless Ms. Jr. South Carolina accepts a wedding proposal before you come to your senses.

Sanaa Lathan - Looks. Aura. It's a wrap.

On top of the fact that they just fine as all hell, whether meeting them in person or just watching them in interviews, all of the above ladies just seem to be cool in addition to beautiful.  Very important.

And they all have MEAN shoe games.  Equally important.  True story.

Silly me.  Almost forgot.  The only woman on the planet The Director would size up @ Tiffany's on sight:

I'll co-sign all the above as far as looks, but only Jessica or Eva would make it to dinner with me, and only Eva would likely be invited back to the Bnyce Lair... [/b]
Great minds think alike.  You're my mans & 'em, so I'd expect no less on both fronts . . .

I'm in total agreement with what you're saying.

When I was in the market, I was looking for someone who could potentially be both my partner AND my best friend. I think some men don't care so much about the best friend part. They want someone who looks good and has an agreeable personality. They can find their best friend in another guy.

That being said, I've learned to live with the fact that my wife/best friend will always love Steely Dan.

I just don't get people who are like "oh, I wouldn't date anyone who likes ________," or people who won't date a girl unless she likes football. That's so stupid. Football is not the be all and end all of the world.

You're one to talk, considering I've actually seen your picture from when you're in your 20's. You talk a good game, but a looker you're not.   :p

It's not simply how one looks, but how one carries oneself.  I don't doubt that the Director only beds the finest women.

When I met up with vansmack at Duffy's a couple of weeks ago, a shadowy, shaded figure passed by me.  Vansmack said "that was the Director. His name is xxx, but I don't think a common name is good enough for him; he deserves a title like the Director."

 True story.

But really, I think that the moral of all this is that anyone who ever meets The Director will inevitably begin the use of 'true story.'

 True Story.

I wouldn't stretch it that far, but I do okay for myself.  Put it that way.

BTW, LMAO @ "shadowy, shaded figure".  Sounds like I'm in a Sherlock Holmes novel & shit . . .

Oh yeah.  Speaking of which. The brothel says you overpaid Trixie the other night.  They got a $100 credit waiting with bnyce's name on it.

Nah, that's only when "fair & exact" reporting comes into play with Billy & 'em.  Last I checked he wasn't employed by Fox News . . .     :D

Plus, (ladies moreso) we're all black when the lights go out.  True story?.

It feels odd to say, but Mandy Moore.  She seems to be growing into a lovely lady and person.  Plus I've always had a thing for amazons.

I didn't care for the tat'ed up version that appeared on How I Met Your Mother, otherwise I would concur.

Exaclty.  24?!!?  Did you not see Girl Next Door?  I purchased the unrated version as soon as it came out.  A bit of a let down, but she's still gorgeous. [/b]
smack, lest we forget: she's into hockey.  not only will she encourage you to spend evenings watching the game, she can score you some rink-side tickets.  i've had a thing for elisha since 24 season 1 too, but having seen her in interviews since has assured me that she's interesting to talk to.  she has some party-girl in her but not too much, as far as i can tell.

speaking of cute blond girl-next-door-type, anybody else interested in a date with katherine heigl?  i sure am.  caught my interest in the "roswell" series, hasn't been bad in grey's anatomy either (based on the few episodes that i've seen).  she's very smart, well spoken, and a hottie.  the girlfriend is also a fan, said that i had a free pass on heigl.  done, and done.
