I know it's early, but is anyone planning on making it out this weekend? I haven't been in a year or two, but my wife is working all weekend, so I'm free to roam the streets of DC.

Lock up your daughters and sisters!

I usually leave the ring home when I head to shows too. You know, because of the sweating and all, I'm afraid I'll lose it. Wink wink.

I was hoping for Phil Collins, but I think a band did his songs before, no?

I'd guess that's not the band playing, but the name seems to indicate that Relaxer is right...

revelation 88 (revelation records 1988) is doing a bunch of 80's hardcore songs - gorilla biscuits, bane, chain of strength, etc...
-
there's also jesus and the lizard

does this event have a website? the only info i've come across is on the BC's website:
Run For Cover 6
For the sixth year in a row, a handful of DC's rock & rollers unite for a night of tribute and parody. As usual, makeshift bands take the stage to play other people's tunes. But by "makeshift" we don't mean "half-ass."
If past years' sold-out Mainstage shows have been any indication, these bands are good. They've spent months preparing for what has become the Event of the Summer. And - oh yeah - this is gonna be your only chance to catch these single-performance groups.
This year's lineup includes performances by Abbatite for Destruction, Revelation 88, Serious Moonlight, American Psychos, Don't Fear the Reefer, and much more.
Last but not least...the best part of the whole thing? In true DC spirit, the event is always a benefit; this year's proceeds go to Fort Reno.

AWESOME! I'm buying my ticket now.

Are you sure this isn't ABBA?
-
Oh, good call. Maybe ABBA songs done in a GNR style? Or vice versa?

Couldn't the American Psycho's be playing songs referenced in the movie? Which would give you your Genesis or Phil Collins coverage. Maybe some Huey Lewis too...

Oh, yeah, what nkotb said...
-
Does this ever sell out in advance?
-
I think last year it sold out day-of before doors opened.
-
Speaking of which...anyone definitely in? I should be there. And tigers scare me, is there any chance I could provide Jesus and the Lizards with a set list for them to learn by Saturday? I've got a few choice cuts I'd like them to play :D
-
i am sadly not affliated with that band.
i have no idea who is in the Yow role.
I am only wondering if we'll see scrod.

Oof...I had blocked all shots of the Tight & Shiny from my brain. I think it would be best for everyone involved if that gimmick stays retired.
Then again, if they really want to sell it...

If anyone is going and sees a lonely man wearing a red Ween shirt with a pentagram on the front, feel free to say hi.
tigers, if I see anyone freaking out about testicles, I'll assume it's you and will buy you a drink.
-
Correction...it's a gray Hot Snakes shirt. I spilled dinner on the other one

Well I stayed home bc my friend bailed. How was it?
-
it was fun.
long, but fun.
nkotb- i was wearing a hot snakes pin.
i usually have some bit of john reis-regalia on now that i think about it.
-
my god, that was sooo good!
I'm not sure why this thread focuses on Jesus and the Lizards, they were fun, but the bands that followed, so much better!
-
I thought the David Bowie cover band was the highlight.
We got a couple behind the scenes pics:

If anyone got any good photos of the performances let me know, thanx.
-
So were the people who shoved their way to the front during Maximum Overdrive and proceeded to spend the whole set snapping pictures of themselves -- no apparent interest in the actual band -- anyone known to y'all?

not to be toooo much of a smart-ass, but is a pin really something that will get you recognized in a dark club? kinda small, doncha think? might want to point out something a little larger, lest nkotb spend the evening inspecting every young lady's shirt.
oh, wait... never mind.
