There has been such a wonderful stretch of nice new releases lately. I'm excited to hear the new Beirut and Enon.

I just ordered mine.  I'd vote for all albums being "pick your own price."  I would save a lot of money.

Enon (the new one, not the reissue), Band Of Horses, Beirut for me.

No, I pay for everything I get, aside from some random one-off tracks and/or out of print stuff.  But for someone like Radiohead who I think are past their sell-date, I could pay a cheap price and not feel ripped off.

Similarly, I could shell out the bucks for a band like Ween that's worth it    :D

Yawn.  I've listened to every Radiohead album.  I've liked each one less and less since the Bends.  How is me thinking that they're "past their sell date" based on my listening experience being overly dismissive?

To me, they've been heading down-hill for three albums.  That doesn't leave much room for optimism in their new material.

Look, I know it's blasphemous to dismiss Radiohead since they are the be all end all of existence, but it's an opinion.  No reason to rush to their defense.  I think they'll do just fine on their own.

This is my isane wishlist for this week.  Too bad I've had a killer month on the ol' Capital One card.  Between weddings and business trips I haven't gotten reimbursed for, I've got to wait a few weeks.

EDIT: I did pick up the Beirut album from eMusic the other day.  It's pretty good; nothing earth-shattering by any means, but definitely worth a listen.

just seems to me that radiohead have re-invented themselves a few times, so of all band to maintain a bit of hope for methinks it's radiohead.  but they've obviously done you wrong once too many a time, so it's off to the dog house with In Rainbows...

No wrong-doing...I just think they're boring.  Besides, like I said in my earlier post, I ordered the download...I just paid what I thought it would be worth, which wasn't much.

She Wants Revenge isn't greeted with the same orgasmic rapture as Radiohead.  I don't really hate Radiohead, I just get annoyed by the hyperbolic exhortations that are inevitably a part of anything the band does.  Frankly, I'm pretty sure that a DVD of Thom Yorke taking a shit would elicit comments like "EPIC!!!" and "HOLY CRAP!!11!!1!!!!!OMG!!!"

a dvd of ANYONE famous taking a crap would be epic.

But even moreso with that eye.  Imagine the things it would do trying to push one out.

PS. I agree with GGW 100%.  Everyone knows that SWR are fucking lame.  What's the fun in bashing that?

currently listening to "In Rainbows".  download was surprisingly fast, i was afraid it was going to take hours.  lots of guitars so far, based on the first 4 songs it's as if radiohead tried to write a pop album... but, being radiohead, they got lost on a tangent.  pretty songs, nothing has really grabbed me yet tho.  definitely more accessible than their last 3 outings.  i'm entirely exhausted at the moment and really should be in bed, so in-depth listening is a no-can-do.  looking forward to having a proper listen tomorrow at some point.

On my first listen, the word that came to mind was Organic. It's a welcome change from the electronics of the past three albums (and the Eraser)

Yeah, but 1) I have already used my 90 allotment for this month, and 2) I won't buy digital albums if I already own the CD versions of previous albums.

That's my cut-off for CD vs. MP3...I will only download bands who I have not previously listened to (or their music is not available digitally).

Hmmm...maybe this should go under "shit you thought only you did"?

The biggest thing this week is the fact that this morning's Sally Forth, the most white-bread comic strip in the Post, has a reference/shout-out to one of the edgier art-noise bands. And it's even kind of funny!

Look, I'll admit that I'm a dinosaur that loves having the actual artifact of a CD.  It's a huge step forward for me to actually download music (though my wife and lack of space definitely helped in that direction).

So I figured that was the best compromise, and it's worked well for me.  I'm saving money and finding more new music than ever.  But I do still covert those little insert booklets...
