Anti-Muslim cartoon endangers Danes (http://www.nytimes.com/2006/01/31/international/middleeast/31danish.html?ex=1139374800&en=8f237bcee2039f8e&ei=5040&partner=MOREOVERNEWS)

The thing that constantly amazes me about Muslims, especially in Europe, is the fact that they not only refuse to integrate, but they greedily suckle at the welfare-teat of the very Western Beast they despise. Why would anybody move to, or stay in, a country that is totally incompatible with their beliefs?
I'm sure there is some passage in the Koran where the penalty for snubbing the good will of a host requires a caning.

Denmark: Muslims offended by "Jewish cookies" (http://www.jihadwatch.org/dhimmiwatch/archives/009323.php)
A group of Danish Muslims refuse to eat traditional â??Jewishâ? cookies because they feel offended by the name.
According to the daily Danish newspaper B.T., Ole Poulsen, head of the public food consumer department said that the Muslim refusal to buy the cookies could have an effect on sales.
"If this will be the case, then we would be obliged to do something about it," he declared.
He added that changing the product name was a possibility, as had in the past been done with the â??Negroesâ?? kissâ? cakes, which were rebranded with a more neutral name.
Educating population
Jewish cookies, which are made with cinnamon and hazelnuts and actually have nothing particularly Jewish about them, are very popular in Denmark during the pre-Christmas period.
Denmarkâ??s chief rabbi, Bent Lexner, said that he did not see any problem in a name change.
â??There is nothing Jewish in it and I wouldnâ??t mind another name, but I think that it would be better to educate Muslims to respect the culture of the majority in Denmark, if they want the majority to respect their culture".

A newly elected legislator from Hamas, the radical Islamic group that swept the Palestinian elections last week, said large rallies were planned in Gaza in the next few days to protest the cartoons, which depict the Prophet Muhammad in an unflattering light. Merely publishing the image of Muhammad is regarded as blasphemous by many Muslims.
"We are angry â?? very, very, very angry," said the legislator, Jamila al-Shanty. "No one can say a bad word about our prophet."
Lemme see if I hear you correctly there, 'Jamila'...
NO ONE can say ONE BAD WORD about...
â?˘ A man who had sexual intercourse with a nine-year-old girl when he was in his mid-fifties.
â?˘ A man who said the majority of hell's inhabitants were women.
â?˘ A man who encouraged beating your wife if she got too lippy.
â?˘ A man who endorsed the murder and/or enslavement of those who don't think like he does.
Is that it?
It's not like I really disagree with any of his points there. I'd just like to have the option...

Oh the muslims have sticks rammed right up their arses over these cartoons....evidently it's offensive to have a sense of humour, but it's not offensive to lop off the heads of christians who have their hands tied behind their backs so they can't fight back.

So excited I'm leaving tomorrow for a week in Denmark.

What's the big Islamic problem here? Why all the furor over a lousy politcal cartoon anyway?
Jeez, it's not like the prophet was depicted being sodomized by a Jake Gyllenhaal, or anything...

A battle between two civilisations is unfolding before our eyes....When Muslim governments start demanding apologies and for the editors to be punished, it's clear they have absolutely no idea how our part of the world functions... If the Jihad Today newspaper printed a caricature of my God, I would cancel my subscription, and perhaps write a letter to the editor in chief, but I wouldn't stop eating dried dates. The Muslim world, however, is a collective world, and therefore they see blame, too, as collective blame."
I keep telling youâ??while you're all bent-over-backwards mewling about "tolerance," their imams are shrieking about world domination and murdering infidels. And they don't CARE whether you tolerate them. If you don't submit (the very word "Islam" means "submission") and obey, they sure as fuck won't tolerate YOU.
I often wonder at how marvelously tough it is for Islamic types.
Picture this: You're only temporarily stuck on this wretched, possibly flat planet. You came from someplace magical, and you're going somewhere even better after you shed your itchy and appallingly dirty body. You've grown up knowing or become convinced that Your God is the very best god there is.
You spend days of your life contemplating how powerful, kind, angry, merciful, vengeful and all-encompassing your chosen God is. In return, you've got an ironclad assurance that you are His Favorite. You are tops in God's book. You've got so many good things coming to you after you ditch this shithole, you get an ice cream headache and invisible spirit boner just thinking about it. Almond-eyed virgins, formerly dead pets, universal petting zoos, all-expanding oneness with time and space, a spectacular rebirth as something better... it's all waiting for you.
The others are just fucked, no doubt about it. They're probably animals, definitely misguided, and they'll never be as good as you, no matter what they achieve or manage to delude themselves into thinking.
Now, that sounds like a pretty great state of affairs. Nothing to do but pray around all day, kneeling this way, maybe that way, staying away from pigs, maybe dogs, too... it's a sweet deal no matter how you count it. You'd think there would be millions of satisfied, blissed-out people, secure in their beliefs and hoping to get accidentally run over sooner rather than later.
But... somehow... it just doesn't work that way. Somehow, you are constantly under "seige" by all the other people who don't believe things your way. Rather than a calming, contemplative 70+ year wait (probably shorter!) before Heaven starts, it's somehow a living Hell. Everyone is out to get you! If they're not opening Burger Kings in your Mosques, they're broadcasting whore-athons like "Friends" on television! Every moment of your life, you're being pushed down a slippery slope by people who you know will be absolutely fucked on Judgement Dayâ?˘.
Yes, let the poor primitive imbeciles BELIEVE whatever the fuck makes the desert sun seem a little less hot to them. Just don't let them, either through threats or some warped appeal to tolerance, FORCE their beliefs on you. I've never seen a group of people so hell-bent on burning flags and effigies and staging mob-frenzy desecrations of other cultures' icons. But look at how the babies SCREAM FOUL when you do the same things with their retardedly superstitious symbols.

Lebanese protesters torch Danish mission (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/10705393/)
BEIRUT, Lebanon - Thousands of Muslims rampaged Sunday in Beirut, setting fire to the Danish Embassy, burning Danish flags and lobbing stones at a Maronite Catholic church as violent protests spread over caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad...
-----
How many mosques or embassies were burned when the Pope was shot?
I rest my case.

Not only that, but the Pope being shot is a much bigger deal than a couple fucking cartoons.
-
and the pope met and publicly forgave his would-be assassin. "forgiveness," what an interesting idea.

Yes, but they probably throw stones at Maronite churches everyday in Lebanon since the civil war broke out in the late 70's, but you're only just now hearing about it because the news is covering it again.
The Danish Embassy, on the other hand, a bit extreme.

Danish paper pursues Holocaust cartoons (http://www.guardian.co.uk/cartoonprotests/story/0,,1705299,00.html)
The Danish paper responsible for the original caricatures of the prophet Muhammad is set to run cartoons satirising the Holocaust.
Flemming Rose, the culture editor of Danish daily Jyllands-Posten, said today he was trying to get in touch with the Iranian paper, Hamshari, which plans to run an international competition seeking cartoons about the Holocaust.
"My newspaper is trying to establish a contact with the Iranian newspaper, and we would run the cartoons the same day as they publish them," Mr Rose told CNN.
The Danish editor was also defiantly unapologetic about the original publication of 12 cartoons - one of which featured the prophet wearing a turban shaped as a bomb - in his paper five months ago.
Mr Rose said he did not regret publishing the pictures.
"I think it is like asking a rape victim if she regrets wearing a short skirt at a discotheque [on] Friday night," he said.
"If you're wearing a short skirt that does not necessarily mean you invite everybody to have sex with you. If you make a cartoon, make fun of religion, make fun of religious figures, that does not imply that you humiliate or denigrate or marginalise a religion."
The backlash continued in Denmark today, where almost 1,000 Danish websites have been defaced by Islamic hackers protesting about the cartoons, posted pro-Islam messages and condemnation of the cartoons' publication on the sites.
"We have never seen so many defacements that are politically targeted in such a short time," said Roberto Preatoni, the founder and administrator of hacking monitor service, Zone-H.
"What is extraordinary for this Danish case is the speed in which the community united," he told the BBC.
Websites have been hacked to include messages calling for boycotts of Danish goods and warnings that the Danes should expect a violent response.
More than 900 Danish websites have been hacked, with a further 1,600 western sites attacked and defaced.

the fact is, the rightish Danish paper that published the cartoons did so specifically to be provokative.
roadbike mankie, it's really stupid of you to use the term "The Muslims" - unless they're some band your hip ass is privy to - in reference to the people who were out protesting and destroying. Then again, maybe you took the time out to take a countand found that a large enough percentage of the world's Muslim population were involved that it's safe enough to just lump all them together into one brown and yellow pile. Almost as asanine is Snarfle's comparison with the pope's attempted assasination; the Pope doesnt speak for all Christians any more than his would be assassin spoke for all Muslims. It's this kind of lazy thoughtless commentary that adds to the rift.
let the snarkitude begin...

What about Catholics? He certainly speaks/spoke for about a billion.
Yeah those Dansk cartoons were really quite provocative, much more so than an raghead assasin's bullet to the spiritual leader of a billion.
Ziggy just gets me so incensed sometimes...I just wanna burn flags & embassies.
