In a statement, the band have announced they were: "Getting back together for the joy of the music."

Wow.
The Verve were probably my favorite band of the 90s, and their live shows were one of the best ever. So I'm excited to read this.
But I hated the direction they were moving in with Urban Hymns, and if Ashcroft makes this just an extension of his fucking boring solo career, it'll suck. The saving grace is that Nick McCabe is a part of this, and that guy is the master of bringing avalanches of guitars.

in other favorite band of the 1990s news... buffalo tom is back on the scene too. yay.

If I ever get to hear Gravity Grave live in person I think I will absolutely go mental. This is fantastic news. Loved their show @ 9:30 in 1997.

Does this mean they won't be the biggest one hit wonder of the 90's?

It would be great if they came back to DC. That '97 show was amazing. I must say that Nick McCabe is one of most under-rated and under-appreciated guitarist from the past 30 years.

One of my favorite shows ever. I still get props for talking a bunch of people into going to see that show even though they had no idea who The Verve were.

Great news! One of the very best live acts I have seen.
