Pollstar has a couple dates up already, Any chance of 930 picking them up? I remember after hearing them at Curiosa thinking they would be a band that would put on a great show at the club.
-
I have heard that they are playing the Electric Factory in early November, and i believe its the 6th. which is a Saturday.
I would imagine a 930 is inevitable. makesme wanna cry, really!

I don't know their stuff, but based off of what (reliable) people have said, I'm not going to miss this one.

I truly believe that the 930 will not be the same after this show.

I am trying not to get too excited so there is not a letdown, a couple of years ago it would have been my most anticipated show, waiting has dampened my enthusiasm, but I will be there
-
Sonick, I listened to the CD and I must say, they are more of a live band. Couldnt get into the CD like I did the real concert. But you had told me that might be the case ahead of time.
-
now that i've seen them twice, i listen to the recordings and just imagine that i'm at the live show. they're really f-ing amazing live; the albums are good but don't do them justice like their performances. i can't wait to see them at an indoor venue...both times i've seen them have been festivals (coachella and curiosa). to see them at the 9:30 would make my year.
-

same here!
-
they were defintely the highlight of coachella, in my opinion...i was blown away by how powerful they were. it made me forget how hot and miserable i was, if only for the 30 minutes they played. i actually wish they would have been billed higher (they should have been) so they could have played after the sun went down. oh, well...they alone made it worth the cost of admission and airfare.
-
I got their first CD shortly after it came out, based on recommendations from some friends in the UK and I really enjoyed it.
I finally saw them last Thanksgiving at Wembley and was sorely disappointed. I couldn't get over how overly pretentious, dramatic, and self-aggrandizing the band was. I mean, I got over Emerson Lake and Palmer back in the 70s. We don't need anymore musical masturbation.
I'm REALLY hoping that the band puts on a more 'humble' show than they do in the UK. I can't see that kind of a bombastic performance going over with American audiences not familiar with the band.
Don't get me wrong - I'll be in line to see the band and am looking forward to them. I wonder if anyone else who has seen them (esp in Europe) feels the same way....

Gonna take another stab at announcing stuff on this board...
Muse's official website has them coming to 9:30 November 8th, and apparently tickets go onsale on sept. 30th!

Wonderful. Muse singles getting airplay. Just what we needed. Now we can turn on the radio and hear a pretentious little imp having some sort of emotional seizure and squealing like a stuck pig over a bed of bombastic cock-prog-muso-rock crap. A band whose every single sounds exactly like the last one, yet one is still totally unable to get used to it. I??ll give them credit for this much: they know how to set the teeth of the sane on edge like no others. I can picture Matt Bellamy sitting in the studio for hours and hours, sweating over how exactly they can make their latest high-flying pitch-shifted guitar riff even just one percent more annoying. ??I have done it,? he might say, ??I have created the most obnoxious song ever to exist? but that is not enough for me! I am drunk with my own terrible power! The chorus could use some more falsetto, I must squeeze that extra octave out of my voice and shatter the decaying eardrums of Freddie Mercury??s corpse.? while dumpster diving this weekend at a chain record store, i came across a muse cd that an american group put out years ago. almost bought it in order to scan it and post the cover, then ask what all the hype was about. imagine what looks like four assistant professors having committed their bar band songs to a cd...
-
was anyone aware that Muse played Woodstock 99?
i know its random , but when i was looking through some old boxes, i found a program from WS99 and they played there!!! my favourite new band at the time, and i had no idea.....wierd.

One bummer that I thought about regarding this show is that the band is certain to make great use of background tapes, which it seems so many of the UK indie bands do. It would be so much cooler for them to get up there and do a 'power trio' thing (or bite the bullet and add a second guitarist), but they'll be so intent on reproducing the sonic assault of the albums that every note that they actually do play onstage will be pre-determined so that the band can follow along with the tapes. I understand that the songs are a little on the complicated side, but wouldn't it be cooler if they re-interpreted them and made them playable by a trio? That was one of the great things about the Guided by Voices show. All that racket and all those great songs were being produced by the guys on-stage, whilst being on-stage. I've been frustrated by shows by Charlatans, Stereophonics, Travis, Blur, SFA, etc. etc. etc. where I can hear about four guitar parts being played, and yet there's only one guitar player up there.
-
what would be worse, is if we had to hear Guided By Voices songs AND background tapes at once!
yikes. that would not be too cool.
-
Just got Absolution...is their other stuff this good? I have to admit on my first listen I think it's pretty impressive. I'll see how it sinks in after a while, but I am enjoying it so far.
-
yes, their other stuff is that good. i personally like origin of symmetry the best, which is the album they released before absolution.
-
just got my tix...whew. my coachella partner-in-crime was at the morrissey show last night and bumped into another fan of muse, who had also seen them at coachella, in the line to sign up for free tix to the show. already counting the days until then.
-
i did the same
$15 is a steal for this show, really.
-
I got my tickets, was afraid this was going to be another freaky sell out like Death Cab and didn't want to take a chance.
-
Damn... Muse is coming back!? I gotta be there. I saw them at the Curiosa festival but their set was just too short. I'm picking up a ticket to this show pronto!
-
How in the world is this show $15 and Everclear $25? Someone explain the economics of that!

I should have been more specific. In today's world.

well because they have sold millions more albums, they probably still have a larger fanbase than muse who are really tasting their first success in the US, their last album never even got a release here, and many everclear fans are probably used to going to bigger name concerts that cost more, so $25 likely seems like a bargain
-
this one's goin fast folks
-
yeah, thats my fault. i have bought 12 tickets for me and everyone i know! haha.
-
Yeah...I didn't want a repeat of the killers experience so I picked these up yesterday. Should be a good show, though I hope he can maintain that vocal pitch after touring for so long.
-
If he can't, maybe Thom Yorke can fly in to do vocals. Let's hope there are no more injuries to cancel shows either!
-
I've been in love with muse ever since I heard new born. I've seen live videos of theirs, and agree with the other posters that they are indeed an incredible live band. I have a couple of questions before I plunk down my money, though.
I've never been to the 930 club before, so could somebody tell me what exactly the 'adult' tag on my ticket means? I'm 19, so will I be able to get in since I'm under 21? From what I understand, the 930 club has a bar too, right? that won't keep me from entering, will it? It damn well better not.
-
Q: How old do you have to be to get in?
A: We request that our patrons be born. That?s about it. All Ages, All the time.

You'll just get stamped and warned that you can't hold, drink, carry alcohol, etc.
-
So any guesses on when this will sell out?
-
Wednesday October 13.
-
Aslong as there are still tickets on Friday... I'll be happy.
-
I see this show is "Presented by 99.1 WHFS". Does that mean we'll get to look at that really cool banner all night?
Do they even play anything by Muse?
-
Hopefully there won't be any jerks at this show pushing their way up to the front at the last minute and spilling beer all over everyone like at Curiosa.
Oh wait, it's sponsored by HFS. So, it's a definite that the jerks will be there.
Why does HFS have to spoil all the good bands?
-

At the Curiosa Festival (near the entrance) DJ Strange and myself wanted to take a large pin and pop their inflatable "sign" that read "The True Alternative" (at least, I think that's what it read - can't recall exactly now).
Anyhow, WHFS and any radio station in their vein are simply pathetic, and calling themselves "alternative" is a farce. Sure, in the very early 1990's they used to be, but now? Please. Who are they kidding? (Apparently a lot of people I guess). (sigh)
Cheers
DJ Medusa.

i guess this show is Sold Out now. and i am hot shit excited about it!

Hopefully it's not elbow to elbow and shoulder to shoulder like the PJ Harvey show.

no!!! How did tickets sell out so quickly????? Alright, I need some tickets!!! who's got lots of extras???
-
Damn, I should've gotten tickets! but I'm not giving up yet...
-
you BUMS. it took like 3 weeks to sell out, redsock, what are you talking about quickly!
-

Well, I honestly didn't think it would sell out at all. And not cause Muse sucks, more that the casual DC concert-goer sucks. Not to worry, I, like Dandy, am not defeated yet...
-
they're up on ebay already, for $30-$45 smackers.

But I have the ultimate bargaining tool, extra Pixies tickets...

and i might have an extra ticket for someone who has a Death Cab ticket.

Damn! That was going to be my ploy....trade my 2 Muse tix for 2 DCfC tix. :)
And when it comes to WHFS, say you want about the crap they play....at least they're not owned by Clear Channel. That is their one saving grace. If CC owned them, you'd only hear the same 7 songs over and over instead of the same 15 they play now.
Clear Channel is the devil.

You and everyone on this board, buddy... ;)
I *may* have one to two extra, but won't know for a bit. Look for tickets, but check back with me.
