While down at Tom Jones last week, I noted more the usual amount of police activity around the club. One could expect the 9:30 club to be looking out for thier patrons. Twice reasonly I was offered an escort down to my car after DJing...

yes, it should be of concern, but it could also be considered an event taking place at a known trouble spot away from the club.

What is that go-go club that is near the 9:30? That place always seems to be hopping when I've walked by there.
I don't know if it's just me, but there seem to be way more panhandlers lately and they are getting more aggressive and in your face.

i am so sick of hearing about things like this. maybe if our wonderful president would think about passing some gun control laws, shootings would not be such frequent occurrences. but more immediately, why not finally close down kili's, since this certainly isn't the first time someone has been critically injured there?

i'm not saying gun control laws would eliminate crime all together, but i do think more sensibility surrounding the sale of weapons would contribute to a safer society in the future.

Allow me to point out the obvious. The only reason DC's gun laws don't work is because DC is a tiny geographic area, surrounded on all sides by two states awash in guns, where the type of poorly-educated trailer trash who love guns can buy and sell them at will, and are only happy to sell them to a few needy DC gangsters, as well.

it's getting bad here an old lady actually flipped me the bird the other day - think im movin to montana - its gettin bad. gonna grow me some dental floss out there.
p.s. fairfax county happens to have been deemed 'the most prosperous county in the usa' recently , i hardly think it or this area's residents qualify as trailer trash or poorly-educated. they may be pricks, yes. try another argument.
2. i dont give a crap about gun rights. i do care about simple quick fix solutions that ppl r always convinced will fix everything when clearly evidence suggests otherwise. ppl claim europe has less gun crime, ok , true, BUT europeans fricking take care of their people and thus take away the need to have a gun. we dont do shit for people. DUH! also, europeans are taxed to oblivion to achieve that. we are like little children here in the us, always the quick cheap lazy fix. well, sunshine it aint free and it aint easy, it takes effort. as far as "fallacious" it's only so when you dont agree. or did you mean 'Fellatious'? im always up for that.

WASHINGTON -- Late Monday evening, D.C. police evoked emergency powers to close Kili's Kafe and Nightclub in northwest Washington.
D.C. police Lt. Mike Gottert posted the signs on the nightclub's door. He told News4, "By the powers of the chief of police, this establishment is closed for up to 96 hours based on imminent danger to public safety."
The action came after an early-morning shooting Monday that left four men wounded. Police said more than two-dozen shots were fired.
And in June, police said a soldier who had recently returned from Iraq was killed and his friend wounded after getting into an altercation with some men, moments after leaving Kili's. Investigators said 21 shots were fired in that case.
"Clearly what we're dealing with here is a magnet for violence," said D.C. Councilman Jim Graham.
Victoria Kibunja, the club's owner is being supported by at least two community activists who accused the councilman of being overzealous.
"My heart goes out to those that are injured and I hope that they have a speedy recovery," Kibunja said. "We encourage everybody in the neighborhood that we are a safe establishment."
News4 spoke to Graham who said the majority of the citizen complaints he's gotten about the club came from long-time African-American residents of the neighborhood.
Graham said trying to make him the scapegoat obscures the real issue, which is the violence in the neighborhood.
