Title: The New Netflix, Tivo Style
Post by: vansmack on November 15, 2005, 06:27:00 pm
Brilliant!

Enjoy a FREE advance screening with broadband!

If you have a TiVo® Series2â?¢ box connected to your home network, youâ??ve likely noticed that we are testing a new feature that allows you to download programs to your TiVo® box over your broadband Internet connection (Navy-Air Force game, anyone?). As part of this test, weâ??ve got a special offer for our network-connected subscribers: a FREE MOVIE! You can help us test this new feature, and enjoy a free movie in the process!

TiVo Rewards Members have the opportunity to sign up first to receive the movie before everyone else!

In conjunction with Tai Seng Entertainment (www.taiseng.com), we are pleased to present RED TROUSERS, a documentary about the lives and training of Hong Kong martial arts and movie stuntmen. Directed by Robin Shou, this film is an engaging look behind the scenes of the training and culture from which stars like Jackie Chan and Jet Li, and MATRIX choreographer Yuen Wo Ping got their start.

Go to www.tivo.com/redtrousers (http://www.tivo.com/redtrousers) for more information about how to get this free movie downloaded to your TiVo box.

Lulu is right.

The Subject should have been The New SugarDVD, Tivo Style.

 I've gone soft.

yawn... ReplayTV owners (of which I am one) have been able to share shows over the Internet for years. TiVo has been trying to catch up ever since.

Probably, and while I don't have Tivo, Replay, or cable for that matter, I have noticed that the word Tivo is in our vocabulary.  I have yet to hear someone say, "Oh, I'll just Replay the show I'll miss tonight."

funny you should mention the use of the word Tivo... Tivo at one point was kicking up a fussy when writers used Tivo in a generic way.  Worried the usage of Tivo would become common place like Kleenex.

Doesn't mean TiVo is better. Only that it's more popular. I would expect that the denizens of this forum would be able to discern the difference.

Of course they would.  I was only making the point that Tivo doesn't really need to worry about catching up with the general public.

This isn't about sharing shows.  Bit Torrent has also been doing that for years, no box required.

It's about having every movie ever made available to your home via a broadband connection and a TiVo box legally.
