any one know of local bands that sound like TOOL?
-
Think they sound like Tool? Many. Actually do, none that I know of. Tool's brilliance to me is their lyrics, humor (yep there is humor in there), and not tuning down too far.
-
so who thinks they sound like tool?
-
I always confuse TSOOL with TOOL.
-
I always confused TSOL with TSOOL.

I always confuse STOOL with TOOL
-
i confuse Mankie with Markie sometimes...or anton, whoever the hell he is these days
-
Not that they're together anymore but Jack Potential sounded very much like Tool. Keith's vocals and Dave's guitar (on the album) Dave was replaced by Dondy who's got an amazing guitar tone and is a hell of a guitarist!
Both Keith and Dondy have a new band called The Nine. Haven't heard them yet though...

I am trying to remember some of the names of the b-more bands that were always saying "We are Tool-like" when I would do their shows. My problem is that after 1000 bands or so you lose track of many of them...
-
Yeah, check the band called Bronx!! With the distillers...

Well I guess for "Tool-like" band you could then throw .click. and Nothingface in that category.
Jack Potiental was really the only one that stood out for me. It was a surprise to see them bust out of that "Fairfax" sound and bring something better :)
There's a jinx about Fairfax I think...look at the bands that are from Fairfax area that get signed to big labels and just fall off. Sev, emmet swimming, Earth to Andy. I think Earth to Andy was Fairfax...

But Sev did a Pepsi Blue commercial. Totally weird when I heard that commercial and had to remember where I had heard the song before.
NOthingface now can be added to the hosed by the label catagory (though I guess they are not Fairfax based).
.click. was one of the bands, Margaret Heater gets there sometimes, Meatjack, and several more that blur into one...

Yes but SEV does not sound like Tool :p
Margaret Heater broke up for all the best. Jason is doing a lot better in Dog Fashion Disco and Brandon is doing well with his band Bleeding the Dream, which has Keith Thompson who was the long-time bassist from .click.
