For me, it's having your work's "secure" data server crash, deleting all files updated since Friday and rendering everything else stored there corrupt, two days before a magazine deadline and three days into my latest web project. Awesome.
So...what makes you sad?

Otherwise, as long as I'm healty and gainfully employed, and those I love are healthy, then I'm usually pretty happy.

Having my SO in Connecticut... so far away... so far.
That and my union having just voted to authorize a strike. I support it, sure, but it makes me sad that I have to give up my pay to get better pay. I work for a lefty org-- we shouldn't have to strike.

Actually, I haven a clue about politics. So I dont know a thing about any of them or what they are saying. All's I know is I get a hefty paycheck and life goes on happily. Even If I didnt get a hefty paycheck life would still go on happily with a smaller one (paycheck). No big deal.

It is unusual to find anyone to admit to that. But it probably is common enough.

lack of punctuation also makes me sad; i just may not capitalize all the time.
punc·tu·a·tion
n. The use of standard marks and signs in writing and printing to separate words into sentences, clauses, and phrases in order to clarify meaning.

I care about the others who try to succeed in life. I don't care about the others who just sit back, complain and blame it on the President or anyone else.

Don't they make plastic elbow guards/pads for mountain bikers???? You didn't happen to videotape your misfortune, did you? If so, you could send 'em to Outdoor Outtakes (http://www.olntv.com/showviewer.asp?sid=83)! They had some kewl mountain biking wipeouts last nite! Well...kewl to look at. Not so kewl for the participant, I'd wager..?

I've just seen too many racially insensitive posts (one in particular - a posted image with some sort of offending caption - it was quickly pulled down by the mods) from flawd to chalk it up to poor judgement. I know he thinks it's fun to push buttons and all....I just don't think it's cool to push that particular button.

In no particular order....
When children get sick or injured.
When I see dead animals on the side of the road.
When I meet people who have broken hearts.
When anything prevents me from riding my bike.
When I see homeless people who are truly homeless. (not the fuckers with the "NAM VET, GOD BLESS" bullshit signs at intersections)
When Manchester United lose.
When Arsenal win.
When I turn on MTV.
When I watch the sheep cheering for George Dubya.
When I see video of Sudan.
When I watch the right wing propaganda by the corporate media disguised as news.
When famous athletes get away with murder and rape just because they're famous athletes.
When I remember my dad has been dead for 13 years and my mum still cries for him.
-
When famous athletes get accused of a crime they didnt commit just because they are famous.
When I watch the sheep cheering for John Kerry.

Lower back sprain of the pretty regular type. I was reaching for ice in the bottom freezer -- alas, it wasn't even for a vodka tonic, but a diet coke before lunch. Sat and Sun were days without movement...bummer, but at least I got the winery tour in on Friday. ;)
Still in pain, so will probably miss the High Dials. Must rest up for next week, "Week of a thousand bands."

Well, tell them to get a damn job then, most of them take advantage of the system. Not all, but most. Heck, If I lost my job I'd go work for 7 bucks an hour til I got a better one. They are not hard to find.

That reminds me of the scene in Pulp Fiction where 'The Wolf' asks Jimmy,
----------------------------------------
THE WOLF
-- let me ask you a question, if you don't mind?
JIMMIE
Sure.
THE WOLF
Were your Uncle Conrad and Ginny millionaires?
JIMMIE
No.
THE WOLF
Well, your Uncle Marsellus is. And
I'm positive if Uncle Conrad and
Aunt Ginny were millionaires, they
would've furnished you with a whole
bedroom set, which your Uncle
Marsellus is more than happy to do.
(takes out a roll of bills)
I like oak myself, that's what's in
my bedroom. How 'bout you Jimmie,
you an oak man?
JIMMIE
Oak's nice.

so if you were making $20 an hour, and lost your job, and you were entitled to $350 a week for unemployment, you would forfeit that and take a $7 an hour job? seriously?

Funny you say that. I was watching one of those cooking shows in high school and the chef said that no one should ever eat a meal alone. That's always stuck with me.

He's full of it...you also can't find a job while you have a job, not one he'd be looking for to replace that hefty paycheck he gets now. Trust me, I've been there. A *real* job search is/should be a full-time job.

There is always a post-convention bump.
It'll go back to dead-even after the long-weekend of Clinton news.
But then it will swing back to Bush in the third or fourth week of October when we produce bin-Laden from the jail on Diego Garcia where we have been holding him for the past six months.
