Yes he his...two nights I believe.. He IS what Robbie Williams wants to be.

I've never seen him but always wanted to go for the same reasons you do, but I know loads of people from all age groups who've seen him and all say the same thing..."one of the best shows I've seen"....I think I've finally convinced (or is that begged) my wife to go with me. My mate would definately go but two blokes going together would be a bit "odd" to say the least!!!

I'll agree with GbV...

Am getting more and more excited about the X show next week. I suspect Ash is going to be very good, and Wilco/Sonic Youth should be a nice time.

the christian singer? i have a friend who was way into him when he was in his christian rock stage. hell, i think he still is but we rag his ass so bad about it that he hides his habit.  :D

*wonders how in inappropriate it would be to comment on that*

There is no GBV date yet, not even a tour yet.  I was joking about Michael W. Smith.   But he is playing that day if you want to tell your friend.  ;)

Can't think of anything locally, however...

ugh, misread the actual post--

okay, seeing how royksopp hasn't done a dc date, i'd like to see them here. moloko is playing a lot of european festival dates, so some us shows would be fun. damien rice with his full band would be enchanting.

radiohead, obviously, but we all know that ain't gonna happen.

all these bands are SUPPOSED to be coming to DC sometime later this year.
those 3 are on my list, along with:
tortoise (they did some west coast dates and were doing field day and are doing bonnaroo -- other dates coming?)
kraftwerk - they've played shows in japan/europe/australia/new zealand in the past 10 months.  hoping they'll come back here.
einsturzende neubauten - it's only a matter of time.

however i'm not limiting myself to waiting on dc or only going to dc.  i will be travelling all over for all of those bands to hit as many shows as i reasonably can.

Are you gonna throw your crusty knickers up on stage?  I was at a pub in Chester a couple of weeks ago and had the pleasure of listening to a Tom Jones cd of him doing modern day cover songs.  Pathetic!

Dragging the wife along could be considered grounds for divorce.  Just trying to help matie!

kraftwerk were suppose to play tibetian freedom concert, but were bumped off the schedule at the last minute due to the schedule changes.  why they were even schedule to do that festival and not a local club is beyond me.  seeing as they basically bring their entire studio with them to perform live.  not exactly the thousands of marks of equipment one wants toting out on a festival stage. but a kraftwerk show would be great nonetheless, their 1998 show in detroit was amazing by all accounts.

>>> I've been back in the D.C. area since '94 and Kraftwerk,I assure you has NOT played anywhere near D.C. since then......I would have been there.....I went to that god awful Tibetan show to see them and they,of course, did not play........with no excuse ever given why they weren't there.........I did get to see a really shitty set by R.E.M.,though.....

Right at this very moment, I would have to say X.

It's gonna be a nostalgic evening for me...X (w/ Black Market Baby) was the first 930 club show I went to back in [geezer mode]1981[/geezer mode].

hey rhett... i'm kicking myself big time for skipping out of the tattoo early last night.  i went up to see Not Lame recording artist Michael Carpenter who was doing a brief warmup stint for headliner Reckless Kelly, who  sounded great during their soundcheck. and because i hadn't done any research i also missed seeing friend of Norah Jones and Marshall Crenshaw co-writer Richard Julian who was the middle act.  wished i could have stayed but it was looking like a very late evening when i left.

It's an annual rally against the death penalty, held across from the Supreme Court. www.steveearle.net (http://www.steveearle.net) says he'll go on around 6ish. I've been a couple of times, he plays and talks for 45-60 mins.

Thanks, our honeymoon was the adventure of a lifetime.

It was just announced on Virgin Radio in the UK the other day that British Sea Power would be opening for Interpol in NYC soon along with a few shows up and down the East Coast.

I'd like to check out BSP as I've heard from my English friends that they put on a great show. Have just recently heard their entire works and find them good for the right mood but nothing to go wild over. The song The Spirit Of St. Louis is great fun though. And it would be nice to see Interpol again.

Actually, my most anticipated shows are not even booked yet:

Elbow - The new album Cast Of Thousands is beautiful with my favorite song being Not A Job with their single, Fallen Angel second. Buttons And Zips is also very catchy without being Poppy. Favorite song title ever is Crawling With Idiot. Even funnier knowing what pub boys those guys are.

I Am Kloot - If you like Elbow, you'll like I Am Kloot. They should be here soon because the single from their new album, Life In A Day, is taking off quite nicely earning them a slot on Top Of The Pops. The album won't be out in the UK until September. Get your babysitter lined up now Mankie!

The Rain Band - I love these guys and hear their live show is pretty powerful. They are too new to be here anytime soon but expect them to find their way across at some point. They are already working on their 2nd album yet the 1st won't even be released in the UK until July 21st! Listen out for the song Knee Deep And Down.

Elbow was here in March of 2002. They were booked for Sept. 3rd of 2002 but then cancelled their entire US tour due to being discouraged with the promoter and lack of ticket sales. (That's their story.)

I Am Kloot have never been here. One day. Maybe opening for the return of Elbow. Would be an excellent match, especially considering that Guy Garvey produced most or all of IAK's works and often teems up with them for performances.
