Wow! This should be a kickass show. I saw Full Minute at the U-Turn thursday. Amazing... Only heard the MP3s of Karmella's Game, and I can't wait to see them live. Plus the swindlers rule all!

Hey, what is U-turn anyway??
Also, it might help to retitle this thread.
"Great Free Show Sunday," for instance...
-
street teamers bore me... where is that delete button.
-
U-Turn is a bar/club that hosts punk bands on Thursday/Saturdays and Bound on Friday nights (that's some goth S&M stuff). Its really easy to get to.
Show is not free. $6 under 21
$3 over 21 (if drinking)
I ain't a street teamer. I'm promoting this show and I'm in one of the bands. Guilty of shameless self-promotion? Completely, but its for the touring bands. The original promoter of this show bailed on the touring bands and I'm trying to help them. This show is a great bill if you like the above mentioned types of music.
-
i'm guilty of little shameless self promotion around here as well...
just be a little more creative than "bump" and a little truth in advertizing doesn't hurt either.
starting a new thread next time with a "honest" topic
-
I see no harm in promoting a show. He did wait 6 days to bump it... Agreed on the topic thread though.
-
nothing wrong with promoting a show, it's just "bump" imho is a sure sign of a street teamer...
and if the topic has gone past the first page it's likely something the regulars aren't interested anyway... if this is the case start a new topic with new info
i would have no problem with a topic that states the true intention of the post... i.e. RIYL Weezer

Okay, I feel like a newbie again, but what's a street teamer?
-
a street teamer is some employed by either a band, record or promoter to spread the word about a record or show. either by passing out flyers, stickers, or spreading the word via the internet.
electronic street teamers often spend their time posting on as many internet chat boards, email lists, etc they can find.
junior membership is a good way of iding street teamers because they usually only stick around long enough for one or two posts about the band they are hyping.
-
And they often create a 2nd ID to back-up what the 1st one said. Note the above tactic.
-
Ah, thanks for the explanations. Though is it always bad for shows to be publicized, as long as they don't hassle the board, etc?
Have any of the "oldies" been to U-Turn?? I've seen ads for it a couple times, but just don't know that I've seen it. And it's right in that 'hood between Polly's and 9:30, so you'd think it would be more familiar!

Yeah the post by Mr. Gusher was a dead giveaway. "DUUUUUUDE, THEY ARE SOOOO AWESOME." C'mon, subtle can be the way to go.
