7/19 9:30

WOW...really? Have Blur EVER played the 9:30 except in 1991 when they came out with "Leisure"? I have seen them twice at the Black Cat and twice at Nation (then the Crapitol Brawlroom). I just got their new CD last night...very hit and miss. I think I need to absorb it more. Makes me laugh when I think that they were the ones that put out records like "Modern Life is Rubbish" and "Parklife" and then hear what they sound like now. Talk about a completely different band.

they better not charge $40 a ticket.
-
I'll bet you anything it will be at least $30, more like $35. If Dave Gahan is $40, then Blur will charge at least $30.
-
They played 9:30 during the s/t tour, w/ that dog opening. I'm about 90% of that. I wish more than anything that I had gone to that show.
They're not even a real band anymore, and will no doubt be closer to a Gorillaz show than Blur, but I'll go, cause it's Blur. Maybe I should just come for the encore when they'll play actual Blur tunes. Boy am I disillusioned, maybe Radiohead will actually play a concert here this tour.

Actually, I was at that show w/That Dog...I'm 100% certain it was at the Capitol Ballroom. I remember it wasn't a very good show and I left before it was over. The best Blur show was in 1996, final night of the Great Escape U.S. tour. They were so much fun...they opened with "Intermission" and then played "Popscene". That was pretty much the climax of Britpop at that show right there. They ended with the most tear-jerking version of "The Universal" and you could just feel the love. I am so glad I was able to see them around that time. The Blur from 1996 is very much dead and gone.

Shit. That's the same day as Siren Fest. I guess I'm going to have to take yet another road trip... I enjoyed their performance on Letterman last night.

Yeah, no question. I am going to the Siren Fest. But I still want to see Blur so I'll try to catch them somewhere else.

Is this the first Siren Fest? I'm wondering if it'll be crazy. I definitely want to go, like so many other people from all over the east coast!

this,

or blur at 930.
I must be getting old because blur in a nice air conditioned club is looking mighty appealing compared to standing outside all day sweating.

Andrew WK, you are the BOMB for posting that link. Man, tell me that doesn't look like a cattle call? Doesn't seem like a very fluid venue (ie, I want to see the Datsuns but not Modest Mouse, so I can wander off until Hot Hot Heat comes on....).
I'm with you on the air-conditioned venue. Hell, I've seen most of the bands at 9:30 or Black Cat, and I'm sure I will again....

No worries BAGS,
You should thank Kosmo really, it was on the page he posted.
It does look a bit brutal, especially if it got to be 110 degrees and 90% humidity. Plus I look like I would be the oldest person there. Perhaps if I find a young person to go with I could pretend to be their father?

I''m too old for Siren -- not to enjoy, and if it were in a more open space (even down on F Street in DC....)
Back to Blur, I read on another thread tickets go on sale tomorrow (Thursday)?? That can't be true, can it? The show still isn't listed either on 9:30's site or on pollstar.

Shows dont get listed on 9:30 site until tickets are on sale.

Thanks. Who knew there were all these secret trails? I've only been going to the club since 1990.... ;)
Luckily, not all that many 9:30 Club shows sell out immediately. At least, not that many I want to go to!
I have friends who will love you forever, eertedaj -- they've been all bent out of shape about getting Blur tickets since...well, since yesterday!
