Title: pushing daisies
Post by: thatguy on October 11, 2007, 03:20:00 pm
if you haven't seen pushing daisies yet, do it.  it's my favorite new show this season.  it's so good that there's no way it will last.  think dead like me meets a tim burton movie.  smart, visually unique, funny, dark, and just all around entertaining.

a third nod for pushing daises.. it's unlike anything else on network tv at the moment, which means the clock is likely ticking on it.  my thought on it was it's like grown up Dr. Suess stories.

also enjoying Torchwood, the Doctor Who spin off on BBCAmerica.

Personally, I'm glad Dexter and Weeds are back to new episodes. What time and channel is Pushing Daisies and is anybody watching Dirty,Sexy Money besides me?

I LOVE it.  By fare the best show on network TV.  It looks and feels like 'James and the Giant Peach' all grown up.

I love it, too. It's so tightly constructed and wonderful. Every detail and word is perfect. I need to look up the production crew (such as the writers) to see what else they've done. This week's episode showed that it can carry on for a whole season. For those of you who haven't watched yet, you can easily jump in now -or catch up online. ABC's site has the full episodes.
I read a comment where the person compared the show to the film Amelie. I think that's a very good comparison. And it makes sense since Amelie is one of my favorite films.

Enjoyed it, but I missed the first episode so I don't know the premise and what the deal is with people being alive vs dead
The offbeat craziness of it reminds me of Twin Peaks

I'll have to check it out.  Anything that's remotely like Twin Peaks is intriguing.  (as that's my favorite show...ever. even made the trip to Snoqualmie)

I finally watched the first two episodes the other night, and I absolutely loved this show two minutes into the first episode. I can't imagine a better TV show really. It has it all: great writing, funny dialogue, wonderful characters, fantastic actors, et al. It's quirky, romantic, funny, sad, and delightful. It's like Tim Burton meets Wonderfalls. It's the best show I've seen since Firefly left the airwaves; I just hope it can maintain this high level for a lengthy period. The first episode, "Pie-lette," is one of the best pilots I've ever seen, right up there with the the pilot for Twin Peaks. Loved it. I felt like they had created the show specifically for me, put it in a beautiful gift box with a big yellow bow, and delivered it to my doorstep.

I've been wanting to check it out and was sorry I missed it. I'm hoping it's online so I can catch up. (I LOVE "Dead Like Me" which is better than "Wonderfalls" [which is still good too])
