Has anyone heard anything about the secret shows FOB is having during the Young Wild Things Tour. I think if they have a secret show near here is would be on Nov. 12th and it might be in either DC or Baltimore.

Board will have a field day with this thread.

Fall Out Boy is more important than the Beatles.
-
will Led Zeppelin also make an appearance?

There's a moniker-challenged fellow by the name of Brian Walalce here who's right up your alley & can help you. There's a catch, though . . .
Kinda like when you have to look in the mirror & say Candyman three times to get him to come out????
He only answers your posts if you leave a sig at the bottom of your post & misspell your screen name. True story . . .

I'm so happy that you all will "have a field day" with this thread maybe we can crack the secrect show or something super duper cool!!

okay now i am lost...so you all are being sarcastic and what not making fun of me?

I have a couple of pairs of underwear which I bought at at one of those stores that stamps everything "irregular". When I wear them, they don't contain my package very well. So we dubbed those pairs of underwear my "fall out boys". Needless to say, I just wear them only when I'm lounging around the house.

Yes, exactly. None of us (Brian Wallace excepted) like FoB and think anyone who does is an idiot teenybopper. If you want to discuss Fall Out Boy and their possible area show, try a different messageboard, because the best you'll ever get out of us is indifference.

You're so sad and pathetic. This coming from someone who has seen "The Smashing Pumpkins" about eight times in the last year and still is deluded enough to think that they are relevant.
At least Calyn likes a band that's popular.

I have not seen them anywhere near eight times this year, nor have I said they're "relevant." In fact, I've never used "relevant" as an adjective to describe any band, ever.

My point is that if the rest of us don't like them, why would you can Calyn grace us with your presence? There are obviously a plethora of web communities whose tastes are more in line with yours. Why sit around here where you disagree with everyone? Why not go post on a messageboard full of people who like the same music as you?

I thought this was a general music message board. I thought the discussion is of bands that play the 9:30 club. I must have been mistaken. They should rename this message board "Nightclub 930 Forum Only For Hipsters And People Who Like Mid-90's Alt-Rock Bands (Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead, etc.)"

I understand why you registered. But once you got on here and discovered (a) you don't like any of the music the rest of us do, and (b) we don't like any of the music you do, why continue to post on here? What are you getting out of your time here?
-
As far as I'm concerned, Brian Wallace should feel like he can post and peruse here. Maybe he'll learn something. The issue I have is that he often criticizes people's tastes simply because it's "old" or "irrelevant". True that we all have opinions, and we are all musical snobs in some way. But most of us actually come here to learn about new music, upcoming shows, etc. I think we should encourage more of that instead of talking about how shitty everyone's tastes are.
And for anyone that thinks that Queens of the Stone Age sucks, fuck you. Just kidding.

I heard Dave Matthews is doing a free concert.

i wonder who the fallout boys will invite up to the rooftop hot-tub?!?

I would say that considering the low activity in the 9:30 board in the last year, 35 posts in seven hours is anything but indifference.
-
You are all pathetic. We all have different tastes in music and that should be respected. All you idiots turned what could have been a somewhat interesting topic about a concert into a random discussion board. Personally, I would not attend this concert, but they do have a loyal fan base so more power to them. Apparently they know how to listen to people unlike the majority of people who post, because they are popular. The rest of you turn off the computer and realize there is nothing left in your life.

So besides name calling and giving unsolicited advice to the rest of us, did you add anything to the original posters inquiry about a secret Fall Out Boy show?
Hello pot, this is kettle. You're both black.

Was a single one of those 35 posts (initial one excluded) actually about Fall Out Boy and their possible triple-secret probat--, er, show? Just because we have random chatter doesn't mean we care about Fall Out Boy whereas if the topic starter had went to, I dunno, falloutboy.com or dc101.com, they'd no doubt find other similarly minded people who would actually talk about the topic at hand!
I wasn't trying to be rude to Caryn or whatever her name is, I was saying "we don't care, you'd do better in your search to find some other place more suited to your tastes." It wasn't intended to be condescending, it was a helpful suggestion.

Post numbers don't matter. I was the one that leaked the Smashing Pumpkins show at 9:30 Club. I can't believe FOB is this big. Their a band for kids 10 and under. I rather have the name of this thread changed to when will the Foo Fighters secret show be announced for February!!!

well this has been an interesting & entertaining read
seriously, are foo fighters really coming in feb? do tell

Sadly, I think fewer people on this board would be interested in seeing mono than the amount who'd see fallout boy. Ahh well...Their loss.

before you pat yourself on the back too much about "breaking" the pumpkins story: several people on this board were aware of the rumour for at least a week before you announced it we were waiting for confirmation and hoping agai  nst hope that we would limit the hype to a few days before the show, thus limiting scalpers, improving our chances to get tickets, etc. futile, i know.
speaking of which - julian, isn't it time that we resurrect that thread? shows are this weekend.

you all (except for a few) are fucking losers...a simple we don't like fall out boy here would have been enough for me to delete this topic...but you insisted on messing with my head...im sorry that i'm not closed minded and i don't stick to a little group of musicians to listen to becasue there not as "mainstream" as Fall Out Boy...My musical taste includes just about everything.

I just don't see how someone who likes a band that is one of the most popular band on the planet right now, can say that people who dont like that band are closed minded?
Did anyone actually say that they didnt like Fall Out Boy because they were popular? perhaps their music just sucks? maybe that thought didnt even cross this person calyn's mind. Maybe we dont like this band cause their music is poo.
If she took the time to listen to the bands that are generally listened to on this board, she would see that none of them sound anything like Fall out boy.
I dont get why people that listen to these ultra-popular bands immediately assume that anyone who doesnt like them, doesnt like them because they are popular....like ppl couldn't possibly think that the music just plain sucked...

i agree that a good majority of there fans are teens but i have liked them since way before they ever "made it big" and being 21 myself will say that i just don't think its right that as soon as i posted this topic i was automaticly shut out because i liked FOB no one asked me what other bands i like or the music i listen to...just because you don't like them doesn't mean that everyone that does is mindless teenybopper...
-
Personally I think FOB are shit, but don't confuse eclectic or non-mainstream music tastes with being open minded. C'mon folks, I figured that one out when I was 17 or 18.

i'll be at the bar on the north side-street before the show, having a burger and beer (although open to other meet-up locations, should you guys want to meet up).

Amen. I don't consider myself a mindless teenybopper and I love Fall Out Boy. My Chemical Romance, too.
There's no accounting for bad taste or hipster snobs, Calyn. Just ignore them. They'll go away soon enough. Don't let them bring you down. They're too busy masturbating over the new Radiohead album.

Is it really 'hipster' to like Radiohead? I actually think it sounds hipster to be over 25 and into FOB or MCR - its like the musical equivalent of wearing an ironic t-shirt.

I haven't -heard- of probably 70-80% of the music on this board, I go, download it, don't like it, delete it, and go back to listening to stuff I do listen to.
With that said, there are bands that are in the same Genre as FOB, that were doing it years before them (and have since broken up), and never got the acclaim. That's the stuff people that like FOB should be listening to, not the fed MTV pap they pass off as music.
I'm also fairly sure that I'm fair in saying I have some intensely eclectic tastes, like most of you.
Despite mine.. you know, differing wildly, I still enjoy the banter of the board. And I've picked up a couple bands I have since downloaded some more stuff from, and even bought a CD. Just think of it as expanding your mind without the illegality of drugs. Yum. (or with, depending on your preference.)
