So is this the only way S.O.O.L. is coming through the area? If so -- bummer.

See Jag's post in the "Just Announced" thread

<tounge firmly planted in cheek> so do we need to setup a bags friendly clipping service as a blog somewhere?
-
Or do we need to start taking the piss out of someone for going to see the black crowes...

dude, I was reading on my way DOWN, hadn't gotten there yet. It was a reasonable question. I saw it, I saw it.
Or don't you know I only read threads started by sonick. :p

THAT'S the call! ;)
-
sure they aren't faggy brit-pop and they arent the hottest band out there. but I've always liked the bluesy rock they play. i have never seen them live (and that list of bands is very short) and the Hammerstein Ballroom is one of my favourite places to see shows. PLUS, TSOOL is there, its in NYC where i love to go, I have a free place to stay......
but i dont think i need to defend myself on the Crowes. the Music maybe, but not the Black Crowes.

not anymore, unfortunately, I've been here too long....

There's nothing wrong with the Black Crowes. Especially, at a small-ish place like the Hammerstein.
If they were playing in this area, I'd be there.

Are you sure you are not Rob Gee/Guiny?
Black Crowes are the American equivalent of Keane.

Sonic hearts the Counting Crows, the Black Crows, and CCR.
What I don't understand is why he doesn't love him some real Americana, instead of the watered down version that the two Crow bands play.

you have no idea what you're talking about Markie......that makes no sense.

i dont like the Counting Crows anymore, their first two albums were good, their 3rd was ok. thier last couple or whatever, arent cool.
as for the watered down part.....when someone doesnt REALLY love a genre...they tend to like the watered down bands of that genre.
like a very casual hip=hop fan might like Outkast, Jurassic 5, Black Eyed Peas....when in reality, these bands are definitely watered down compared to a lot of true hip-hop fans.
Electronic music fans would say the same of Crystal Method or Fatboy Slim
you get it....
and i dont listen to the Crowes anymore, but i was shaking my money maker back in 1990 or whatever and it just seems like a cool show...it was only $40 man....its not like i mortgaged my house for these tickets.

that last post made even LESS sense, Markie
did you come into work drunk today?

Black Crowes = Watered Down Americana
Keane = Watered Down Brit Pop
-
ohhhh, i forgot. Markie only likes bands that sound completely original and have NO recognizable musical influences. gotcha. :)
-
I fully admit to enjoying the watered-down versions of genres I'm not a big fan of -- Outkast and Fat Boy Slim are good examples. And Madonna's my pop fix.
But for me, I wouldn't go to a Black Crowes show if I got free tickets... Counting Crows, show is free -- probably.

even with that logic
at least Americana > Brit Pop
so Black Crowes > Keane

I'd go if the Crowes were free and having a local show. Crows - no way. They suck live.
I saw the Crowes back in '90. They said "hello" to the crowd, naming the wrong city. "Huh? OH. Where are we? Oops..." straight into the next song. Ah, nothing like the Crowes in a southern college gymnasium.
-
Take earplugs. When I saw the Crowes they were LOUD.

Well he's not Rob Gee, I'm sure he's not too upset with that. I absolutely do not like the Black Crowes, there's something about his voice that makes my skin crawl.
However Sonick, I will also be at the Crue concert. We must meet somewhere on 7th street for a few drinks before the show. :D

your definition of Brit Pop really sucks.

Not nearly as much as your ability to read and comprehend.

With all of the Canadian bands that I've been listening to lately, I think that Sonick and I got switched at birth. In fact, I'm listening to one now (Readymade).

werent you born like 10 years before me though?
:)
Readymade is good. thier old band Pipedream is pretty good too, if you can get an import of one of thier discs, they are kind of hard to find.
-
You must read Spin Magazine. They say Canada is the new cool. At least that's what the copy at my gym said.

no, the Crowes are just doing the five nights in NYC. TSOOL's tour is headlining i would assume.
-
My favorite Canadian band is Dayglow Abortions. Their best cd in my opinion is "Feed us a fetus".
-
Thank you for your help and support.
I saw on the TSOOL website that they are doing a few dates with Robert Plant. *shudders*

If I was married to whatserface, Goldie's daughter, I'd be too busy shagging her to front some god-awful band.
Tell me that's not a classic case of, "what the flying fuck did she see in that talentless loser?"

Actually, yes, I used to have a tape of theirs with the title I gave before. Maybe they got worse as they went along or maybe it was one of the first punk tapes I listened to. I thought they were pretty decent and funny at the same time. They are no holds barred. Alot of the titles are outrageous. But I havent heard anything other than that one tape.

Canada IS cool, the one thing that prevents it from becoming uber-cool is that whole French thing parts of it have going on. ;)

Clearly she should be with someone of her caliber -- like a middle-aged car salesman maybe.
